the sound playback on a cheap cellphone at the Rancho Guacamole Cantina is horrid - but for the moment, it'll have to do.

I just drove the car. A blip of the clutch and gas and I can brake her loose at will. Absolute demon fish. Honestly the most horsepower I have ever tried to control. Stupid quick.
Back to thinking new front brake lines will help her roll more freely. Just seems to be a small amount of drag.

we're going to get the M030 bar bushings, rear brake caliper rebuild kit and new front brake lines from Sunset.....
then the car is going for some minor engine surgery that 944 Track God's tech will solve.
out beyond that....
944 Track God to do list
hydroboost tuning
soften clutch
eliminate front fuel filter
firewall brace
front M030 bar on
alignment
968/997 front cover on
Carbon front splitter on
at that point, the break-in oil will be out of the pan and we can start doing burnouts, donuts, 3:00 a.m./8 mile desert passes and such
with the record light on.

After getting the new driver's side mirror installed (a task I thought was going to be Allen's death knell) we moved on to adding a few spot welds onto the Recaro-to-Sparco sliders. Then we touched up the paint.....

on a closed road like Nevada 318/Silver State....
you believe what I'm saying here... right?
got a lot of detailing done.... glass cleaned,
seats polished to a mirror shine.
carpets detailed while driver seat out,
new 8000k/55w Xenon ballasts/bulbs procured.... not yet installed in the headlamps.
new driver's side mirror on (Doug with the big save.... Bosch and Porsche are absolutely retarded)
Sparco to Recaro seat sliders improved to perfection with Doug's fine welding skills....
more parts on the way....
the seats are black on charcoal, but in the bright desert sun you'd never know it...
plain to see we can only attempt interior pics after the sun sets.

Ever been frustrated by a screw?
Was gonna do like I normally do and completely disassemble the calipers.....NOPE. The stinkin' little 5/32 screws (or whatever they are) that hold the contraption that hold the pads in place would not budge.
Set out to rebuild them still together and what a breeze. What was I thinking?
Oh, ya, don't mind the wrinkles.

OMG!! that's horrid.
images egregious as those should have never seen the light of day....
less ever been taken.
but THERE IT IS nevertheless.
in any case, those fugly rear calipers are now completely rebuilt, w/ fresh paint baked on.... and mounted with new lines (killer work, Doug)
super fun do-it-yourself....
don't let anyone tell ya that baking the paint on calipers ain't every bit as good as powdercoating!!
done right - IT IS....
just get em real super clean, scuff w/ 320, pre-treat with ammonia and get em real hot: like 300°...
then hang 'em up from a wire and apply engine paint in very thin coats.
finish with high heat gloss and you're home.
the engine paint on my front calipers is holding up perfect after 7 years
they still wash off spotless super easy with just Simple Green and a rag!!
well, guess what? I've come into a fresh set of SSR GT3 knockoffs (exact duplicates of what I've been running the last 8 years)
this is nice, because now I can take the other ones and get them blasted and refinished - as they were getting a bit oxidized
and the finish was starting to bubble and flake off.
the newer wheels came with half cruddy front tires but almost new Sumatomo 275-35-18s rears.
I'm pretty set going with 285-35-18s going forward for the v8....
if anyone would like a pair of nice tires w/ what looks like about 95~98% tred, they're yours for $250 plus shipping.
I've got my 255-35/fronts swapped over and up....
i'll post some nice wheel/tire/brake pics either later today or tomorrow.

we're still working outwards from the TPC bogus install/brake paradigm.....
brake situation zero/non-diagnosis + massive brake pedal you can't be serious epic ni__erigged up the ***/off the charts/for the ages - fail.
hard to believe a human being could actually be so off the reservation as to attempt to extort money for this level of bogus.....
nevertheless - the evidence is plain for anybody to see.
Doug Bray is on it.... and slowly but surely, mastering the brakes of the V8 swap.
HE may get this car to the point of actually being drivable - eventually.
then we can actually move forward to the Hydroboost proportioning context.
if not.... then we'll call upon the services of 944 Track God....
i'll let this truth be known.
the guy who took over the reigns in Texas may not be building cars right away,
but at least from the context of the v8 parts - integrity will be at the forefront from the start.

Allen is being kind to the installer/fabricator for his own sanity. I got up under the dash this evening, actually up under there and had a good long look at the way the brake pedal is connected to the hydroboost and I don't have words.
The pedal return spring was wrapped around the brake pedal like you would wrap a paperclip around a pencil. It was left to just slide up and down the pedal. Heck, a paperclip would have done a better job of returning the pedal to it's neutral position. This spring was stretched out like a slinky and stayed stretched and left the pedal on the floor once it was depressed.
This guy took a magnificent build and cheeped out yet again. I started this rescue mission as a neutral third party observer and have come to the conclusion that the finish work wasn't just shotty, but was purposefully bad...intentionally F U work. I couldn't even let Allen get under there and see it it was so bad.
Sorry guys, I'll cool off and calm down. It was a shoot me now evening

Burning Brakes
Am I the only one who's totally confused here? Post 412 shows a couple of seat rails, post 413 describes some detailing and shows a picture of the interior of Odurandina's car, and then the next post shows a couple of brake calipers covered in some sort of yellow glop. Wha?! What did I miss? Is there some back story here? Didn't see anything on any previous pages with any clues...

hahahahaha......
Doug and I have slightly different ideas about caliper painting.......
my front GTS calipers are spectacular.... the yellow engine paint and gloss was baked on w/ sufficient heat and the paint is as hard as a rock.
the rear calipers were done with low heat..... and somewhere along the way they got a bit chipped.
so Doug took it upon himself to strip the yellow off completely, and start over - while I was in San Diego getting the fresh set of OD wheels.....
they took a lot of work but he's got them back w/ fresh O-rings and looking beautiful.
anyway..... I'm at O'Hare getting ready to board a plane to Boston.
wood cutting time for a few weeks.....
as to the other semi-guarded comments.... there's a story or two there.
the car is coming along.... with a few bumps.
keeping it all in perspective.... things could have gone a lot worse.
we're still up.... the car's got a good powerplant and more....
and we're living to fight another day.
