Default Anyone have door panels that have cracked and faded on the tops- found a fix maybe

Hey all,

My interior guy thinks he has found a fix for the famous graying - fading- cracking door panel tops. Does anyone have a set they might either like to get rid of or like to be the expermental procedure volunteer?

It is some kind of 3m flexable material that sets up in leather or vinyl to fill cracks, it then can be dyed to match. I thought of our dashboards first but the size of the crack would be too big he thinks...

thoughts- Mike

I had the top section of both my door panels replaced for $99.00 each a few years back. Mine were discolored and cracked. Now they look new.

I bet it was the same process- or did they replace fabric?

They replaced the vinyl with new that has a very slight padding built in. Color was spot on.

I can volunteer! I have already done a run of sanding and spraying (vinyl dye) to try to repair it with little success - will that be an issue?

Here is a shot of the door panel repair that was done to the top sections only.

Mike, classic gray. But I have another name I like to call this color.

Ryan, the repair looks nice. It may be the picture or lighting, but it looks like the extra padding you mentioned takes away some of the contours.

Arash, the padding is like 1/8" thick and it does remove a little of the contour, but it feels great when you have your arm propped up there.

Arash... Do you still have my address- find a box and I'll hook you up. I'll PM you the info. I'm assuming once they look pretty you want them back right...LOL

Cheers, Mike
