Default Clutch Chatter

Folks,

I am new to the world of Porsche with a 1994 968 with 46,000km's

When engaging 1st gear I get much more chatter then I expect. Moving to 2nd gear and on is not a problem. I am not new to driving standards. I can shift in and out of gear with no problem, its just when I release the clutch that the chatter occurs until the car is moving at a good speed then the chatter is gone. What should I look for?

Thanks

You could have a potentially glazed flywheel or clutch disk. It might have heated up at some point in the past. You will see blueing on the flywheel surface if it did overheat.
Another possibility is your DMF is failing. The 2 sides could be coming apart. To test it, you need to remove the DMF and try to turn the flat surface. It should spring right back, if it doesn't, your DMF has failed.
Good luck.

I'd say the Dual Mass Flywheel is starting to fail, strange on such a young car mileage wise. Replace it with a single mass flywheel and you will get consisent chatter in all 6 gears (its good, I recommend it!!!)

Although low mileage, time is not kind to the rubber dampening material inside the DMF.

Could also be oil contamination from a rear crank seal lekaing. Just something else to look for
