to be honnest i'm a bit surprised that so far no one has tried to convince me not to do it, or that the 968 is the better race car(more bang for the buck)

I'd like to talk you out of it, but I haven't raced either car, and I'm hoping to buy your car when I win the lotto.

Best of Luck either way. Your car is an inspiration.

Well I haven't raced either a 968 turbo or any 911 but I have now done quite some trackdays with both.. (well not so many with GT3 yet)
So far I have to say the 911 has so much more "character" than 968. Mine is a GT3 though so it has the lovely Mezger engine and the racy soundtrack as well. Incar here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVaEK...ature=youtu.be
They are very different type of cars and of course the GT3 benefits being more modern..(and a lot more expensive!) but the 968 still beats it in practicality hands down!
As of now I haven't sold the 968 yet but I also haven't driven it since I got the GT3..

Anyway, if you are seriously thinking a 911 you should do it. There is no other way around it.

I think for 39k it's a bargain. Great build.

JarmoL, is your experience in a turbo or n/a 968? I agree that the GT3 is a great car. There is something just so solid and tactile with these models although I'd have to say that Filip's car would or should be faster on the track.

Hi Patrick, it's a 2.8 turbo.
GT Porsches are fast enough for most and also durable out of the box. That leaves so much more time to concentrate on driving skills.. I guess that was the main selling point for me.

Thanks everyone for the input ,I made up my mind and the 968 is staying for at least another season .the gt3 is a great alternative but i do not think she could give me the same amount of satisfaction that my "home built" 968 is giving me .to compesate for the lack of a project I wil focus on building a spare 16v turbo engine and maybe a spare chassis .there still is lots of potential in my car that I need to learn to master.

Good to hear and congratulations for intending to go further.

I would love to come over and see your car if the opportunity arises. I'm in France near the border with Germany so I don't think I'm too far from you.

flipo, I am glad you decided to give it another shot. You have an amazing car build that deserves to be explored. Besides you will be one of the few rather than one of the many. Truly unique.

The fact that the 968 is becoming more and more rare on track is one of the reasons why i'm keeping it .another important reason is that in a couple of years the 968 will be able to compete in several "youngtimer" race series we have here in western Europe, This car can be very competitive in those kind of races as opposed to a 996 gt3 witch is to modern for this kind of races and to slow to be competitive against 997 cup cars in the modern races.

Last but not least the fact that i have a verry large stock of spares for the 968 so that running costs can be kept to a level that makes me able to save up for a new project in one or two years, than I will have the best of both worlds
