Default dry sump ?

This weekend the engine in my 951 exploded (nr2 rod) so now i know for sure that a proper race engine MUST have a dry sump system .I'm adding this to my 3l engine while it's still out of the car .
does anyone have pics of the dry sump setup ? I'm wondering where to put the oil reservoir and filter .
How much capacity should the reservoir be ?
I think I will order the LR system unless someone comes up with a better alternative .

Tips ,advice and/or pics are very welcome

Julian are you putting a dry sump engine in your car? if so where will you locate the oil tank?

Yes, I'm planning to install a dry sump system. The oil tank is in the passenger footwell/battery location as you can see in this photo:

I welded mounts in and am using Peterson's 5 gallon tank. The line from the tank to the oil pump will pass through the right side body member.

More pictures on Reutterwerk.

interesting position.
Will not affect the 4 corner weight distribution and front to rear balance by adding an extra 11 litre
of oil high up on the right side ,and removing 6.5 litres low down from the front middle of the car?
Seen something similar in a Corvette or Viper.

Building a car is always about compromises.
The tank's not full when the car's running. Its bottom sits right on the floor. The tank must be high enough to insure a continuous supply of oil to the pump. I'm moving the battery to the rear of the passenger side compartment floor.

Default 968 Turbo

Julian that is the same location I installed the dry sump tank on my brothers LS1 951 and it worked great. It keeps the plumbing short and there is a great access hole where the AC and heat went through firewall. You are going to have an awesome car when you are done I can't wait to see in running around Barber!

I have decided to go for the Lindsey Racing drysump kit with the air /oil separator on the pump ,this way i can keep the tank volume down to about 7liter .the tank will be in the passenger foot well ,I will schield it off to prevent extra heat accumulation in the cockpit .
