Saturday, August 27, day of 2 racing for competitors of BRM Sport Cup !!!!
The tests put me forward last line, I have plenty of time to admire others before !!! My objective will be to contain a GT4 and 930 that are just behind me in time. Those in front are more than 2 seconds, unless the problem, it will not be possible to switch them.
11:05, pre-grid and rolling start at 11:35 ............... .sympa to see the show before



Very quickly the hierarchy is emerging and it will be a somewhat isolated race at the rear.



A 3 laps, I distract myself for passing the race leader that takes me a ride and I go to the fault at the end of the straight line !!! The GT4 passes !!! Too bad because before the 930 Fabien abandoned and I am 3rd Classic. I will finish alone like that.
After arrival, taking a tire pressure reassures me on untimely slips felt after mid-race: 2.6 bar at the rear left !!!!! I had gone to 1.6 bar !!!! Be corrected for race 2 of a.m.

Saturday, 15.00, is under a glowing lead blanket that cars take the pre-grid !!! the drivers and the cars will suffer for this second race of the day.




My purpose is simple, to finish 3rd of the new "Classic" I know Fabien is there with his 930 and his worries in the morning was the result of a simple little fuse ...... 1 € !!!! So will pass the 944 Turbo Cup with his driving dad Dimitri (the son who won the group "Classic" this morning). I remember a beautiful battle on Lédenon or I did not get through.
Rolling start and this time I get hooked to peleton. But alas, the temperature behind air is very high and the engine is struggling to cool. The battle is fierce with the 944 and the GT4 and the hanging was almost at the appointment several times !! A gain of one place that is deserved !!!!
2 alarms with a T ° of water above 97.5 ° C and had to reduce the turbo pressure (1b to 0,85b) to continue racing but fall behind !!!
There are 3 or 4 laps before the finish and the GT4 went to the fault trying to pass the 944; it is within reach ... bumper when general cut ...... !!!! Safety engine management intervened because ... empty of water in the expansion jar ???? Leak ??? Evaporation ??? We'll see at home.

A little disappointed but quickly erased by the happiness of having delivered a good game in the second race. And when we lived it, there are many fade the running sessions !!!! Hitch, hitch, never start a real race because after that not to do anything !!!

Magny-Cours is finished, think Castellet in one month 1/2. So discover why the coolant is gone !!!

We go down the car trailer



I run the starter and it seems grind !! Auspicious, the engine does not tight.
I put the LDR in the jar, re-activates the starter 2 times; quick re-level, I will spend 3 liters of LDR. No leak stopped and the muffler is dry; not oily or wet crachouillis.
Contact ignition, starter Vrooom ..... the first time and it purrs nicely. I let up a T ° to 50 ° C (first light that goes out) and I cut to inspect the circuit. At first glance nothing special in the jar I thought cracked or large hoses. But following each departure of the jar ?????




The hump added to improve the cooling of the 4th cylinder at the cylinder head had his elbow out of its housing ????,

I put it back in place


We redo the engine run and LDR is flowing again !!!



I'm going to refurbish this circuit: + pipe fittings and do the checking before every session from now on !!

Motor !! and I return the car in his den or she will be entitled to his little check up "after race" pending new parts for this cooling system.

An hour to kill !! Hop and open the bonnet to tackle the removal of the cylinder head cooling outlet.
The access is difficult and to save time I disconnect an ignition coil.

14mm socket wrench in hand, can not be taken on the head of this coupling damn !!! Damn, but it is on !!! Once more the English !!!! A small shift to a bender facom 9 / 16th (a memory of the time of the Marcos) and hop it unscrews !!!

Very much enjoy racing vicariously through your very detailed and interesting posts. Little technical failures such as the cooling elbow are such a pita, I hated stuff like that sidelining my track car, and that was much smaller endeavour. Best of luck with the remaining races! And keep posting!!!!

A month in Le Castellet wait !!! Too long !! And happiness of the Historic Tour 2016 calendar, there's the Bugatti 23/24/25 September !! Banco order to make an appearance .......... access on the garage mezzanine to get there my slicks and go for disassembly / assembly tires at my friend Beausset.
Some muscu to store everything




The wear was evaluated, it looks OK to 4x 30mn (Qual and 3 races) For 25 minutes of free practice, I will set the MSC2. And if it rains, I have my "rain" in the 3rd set.


They were bought in September 2015, and have been well stored dry and protected from light.

And in the aftermath, RdV taken for a drain motor + brake purge and check tightenings for next Monday.

The countdown has begun: J-11

Posted Wednesday OKHLAOMA CITY is arrived Friday a.m !! Are strong in the States !!!
Tomorrow we put in place the new elbow, we make the level of LDR and motor !!!! I go to charge the car for carrier Monday at CCM. It will make his engine oil changes, Bleeding Brakes and check before Le Mans because it will be J - 4 !!!

An hour to go up this small cylinder head cooling piping with new elbow arrived yesterday.


We left 15 minutes turn the motor to verify proper assembly. Everything seems OK; no bubbles circulating and the temperature remains at 87/88 ° for an ambient Temp. 25 °.


key "English" for tightening the elbow has lost its length !!!! dimensions requires!!!!

A little trip CCM aside this afternoon for revision before Le Mans.

Checking the brake and purge,

engine oil change and on the occasion cleaning the flat bottom and replace all the screws that secure it by identical: It was no less than 3 different keys for dismantling !!!
By inspecting the cooling hoses, Max, the Workshop Manager pointed out to me that the steering has its radiator !!!

It is therefore with no less than 5 radiators in the front bumper: water, air, 2 oil and therefore 1 for AD. Not crash !!! A few key strokes to tighten certain fixations; some collars to better take some wiring and ended. We took the opportunity to note the points has improved for the next visit in particular the insulation of exhaust under the engine which suffered much.
Le Mans is in four days ...................

Tomorrow Thursday, starting at dawn to Le Mans; but today muscu session for all board: In the 968 2 petrol jerry cans, emergency trailer wheel, the box of fluids (oil, additives, brake) and 4 "walls" of the small Barnum.






On the gallery of the trailer 6 wheels and 2 jerry cans.





And in the Chevrolet two barnums, the pieces of boxes and tools, table, folding chair, .. Still to be leaving, cooler, suitcase and bag business driver.





The checklist is complete .... Good to roll !!!!

Justice of the Peace spoke Saturday with Race 1 and its results !!!!
chopped race with the entry of the safety car twice. Each time, we had to revive and rebuild the gaps !!! the battle with the RS Faurie was really great; but I never could endanger wisdom and made me secure my second place GTC3 and 4th overall. Battle and performance that have earned me the nomination for the Award of Motul GT Classic !!! Tomorrow will be another day with 2 races and the rain ..... announced. The grid of the Second Course puts me in the second line just behind the RSR Mathieu.





Sunday is spent with two races on the program. The forecast rainy passing by late morning. Good idea, the GT Classic had to be pre-grid for lunch !!!! 10:50, the sky is loaded and the car is ready to receive its MSC2 since put on racing rain a downpour seemed to take the risk of not completing on a drying track. 11:00 am, the rain is here and mounted MSC2. Some try the slicks, others racing rain !!!


Tower of training under a light rain, but the track is wet and greasy possible. Departure !! and galley begins ... no grip with direction, either in traction because ???? I left the dampers adjusted as hard the night before. And what had happened came, head to tail and I find myself at the end of peloton..On the end, helping drying track, I managed to finish 11th overall out of 14 and 3rd of 4 in GTC3. In short, a race to forget !!!!!


In the afternoon, the sky is clear, the temperature is rising and at 18:00, the 968 regained its slick !!! relatively favorable starting grid: 3rd line with visual and large GTC1 GTC2. A Faurie my sides and RS 964 that made the first GTC3 to race 1 (and I SECOND !!) gun out, the car has regained its balance and grip and the fight begins with Faurie and will last 8 rounds. It will make a small mistake that will allow me to spend inside and in two rounds, I distançais enough to finish ensuring my 1st place GTC3 and 3rd overall !!! Mission accomplished for the way I améliorai my fastest lap in 1'58 "694. And after the catwalks, we all pack up quickly to go to a well deserved rest ..............
