Bumperette delete for euro fog/park lights.

Where do you get those lights, wiring kits?
|
Gregg,
No wiring. They plug right in. Same unit, longer lens. Just remove old light and bumperette. Plug in replacement and screw down (2 screws). Part should be available through porsche dealer and other aftermarket parts suppliers. You can check with Sunset Porsche - they have pretty good pricing on factory parts. Richard |

Gregg- got your message BTW, I'll give you a call. I have all your parts except the quarter but may have one from another car. I'll check. While you are in there I'd change the bumper and rocker gaskets, the front bumper gaskets since you have paint work anyway,. If you paint first and install after the results are great. I just painted and replaced all the gaskets in my 968 and have info in posts under notthd. Pics too... Maybe we can meet at Snowshoe this week, do some skiing - boarding and exchange parts. Its about 4hrs from me...Cheers, Mike

And the plastic pieces for the rockers- replace them all, you'll thank me for it later.....
|
Mike,
Did all the seals, body man said skip the plastic pieces! |
Reinforced tow hook mounts?

You'll probably want to provide the shop with the instructions for R&I of the door handles and door mirrors, as well as disassembly/reassembly once they're removed. They were the among the trickiest things I encountered.
Before removing the passenger-side door mirror, for example, the wire harness connector has to be removed from inside the door. Also very important to remember placement of all the wires in that connector. I disassembled the mirrors and door handles completely in order to paint only the appropriate components. I recall the door handles being rather difficult to reinstall. Is this going to be a road car, or are we going to see this at Mid-Ohio next season? |
Road Car,I will still keep racing the red car .

The plastic pieces are so brittle and they are cheap. When I repainted my cab I reused the rocker attachment tabs and the one that is in the curve up section snapped leaving a gap between the rocker and the car. When we removed the rocker to replace this one two more broke. Wound up being a PIA... my experience, I might have some left overs- if some parts head your way there yours...or if you need one or two I can snall mail them to you for free...
Good luck, cannot wait to see the car back together- Mike |

Looking great but would it not have been both cheaper and easier to simply drill out the old spot welds and put a new wing on - 6 hours labor max ready for paint?
You could have even utilized a used 944 wings and cut to fit - Somebody on the 944 board I'm sure would have a wing they'd have given you for a small fee plus the postage :) That's going to have a serious amount of body filler on it when finished which could lead to further problems down the line. All the same great work and I look forward to seeing your 968 finished  |
