We are rooting for you bud. Your car is well equipped to do such a feat.

If it helps, you can borrow my transaxle to get the gearing. This way I get to share the bragging rights, LOL.

And at 200mph, you're covering 293.33 feet a second.
One often overlooked fact is that the 944S2/951 actually has a lower aerodynamic drag coefficient than the 968. Go figure.

I don't know any other way to put it. I've done a lot of highway cruising and I normally drive 5-10mph over the limit. On 65mph roads, going 70-75, I rarely have people pass me. But since my speedo must be so off and I'm really only doing all of 60-65mph...how could I be in front of people when I'm sometimes doing "10mph under"?

The car runs now, and it seems as if I'll have to go get some videos to post up. There is no known record of this car having anything other then the trans it came with either. I know the S2's have a shorter first gear, but my car is reading 4-5mph off by 35mph? That doesn't seem too right.

I do have a friend with a GPS, so I'll so what we find. I'm not 100% backing my car does 140mph in 4th as I know the speedos are inaccurate, but 20mph off? I doubt that much. Thing is, I did have a car bus lengths behind me that reported speeds of 125-130mph. How was this so when we started at the same time, same gear, same stretch...yet I'm going 5mph slower?

Something doesn't line up. I'll have it figured out for sure once this Kansas weather gets nicer!

Maybe most people on the road has an uncalibrated speedometer. It's not likely but possible.

DFASTEST, you put supercars to shame.

What I am trying to clarify is what the stock 968 came with. Every stat I seem to find says 3.78. Does anyone know which diff went where?

According to the Porsche 968 technical specifications handbook (first edition) The final drive is listed as 3.778 for manual cars regardless of open or LSD.

The tip final drive is listed as 3.25

There is no mention of a 3.44 final drive.

It's the ring gear that is in question here, not the diff. The pinion is listed as a 9 tooth, but the ring gears are listed in PET with either 31 or 34 teeth.

Anyone willing to host some videos on youtube for me?

I can get these up as these prove my car is going faster then 120mph in 4th gear. For some odd reason, I had first thought my 140mph run was at 6500 revs. I was wrong. I had the same girl passenger tonight, and she wanted to go fast. We got on I-70 and proceeded to let 4th ride out. We came to about 135mph and had to slow for traffic. Once this guy moved, I got back on it and hit 143mph. This was not caught on video as it was night time...but I will have a +140mph run on video before long.

If someone can host these on youtube, PM your email address and I will get them sent asap.
