If you are looking into turbo charging your 968 cab, you might also speak with Jason at Heritage in Largo. I believe he has a 968 cab in his shop that he is turbo charging now. FL is closer to you. Just my $0.02

I'll definitely speak to everyone if I decide to pull the trigger on this. I've looked on the Heritage site, the guy knows his stuff too. Powerhaus does have a 'lower hp' motor that is in the 15K range, which is more towards my budget. I'll know more next week.

Whoa Damian...is this your other persona taking over?!

'Persona...' you might wanna tell Damian to hold off buying the Cargraphic exhaust system! It will not work on a turbo.

I can always sell off the exhaust. I wouldn't have considered Powerhaus before, but the 350hp motor for 15K is tempting-those 25K 450 hp motors are too much for me, but the lower cost/lower power option could be doable.

No persona change, maybe it's just a little midlife crisis/need for speed kinda thing.

I have been very happy with my conversion. When my car was out there they were also building another white coupe with the 350hp set-up. I was very impressed with that car. I'm pretty sure David would put you in touch with the owner. I would definitely speak with someone who has gone through the same type of conversion that you are interested in. I was in almost constant contact with an owner who has a very similar set-up as mine. I can't tell you how important it was for moral support as well as to ask him all those questions that will come up during the conversion process. I think that is the only way to get an honest and more objective opinion.

Question

What is the difference between the 350HP and 400HP+ engines?

My understanding is that the 350 is more of a "bolt-on" conversion and my set-up was a complete engine rebuild from the ground up. When all was said and done on my car it dynoed at 484 hp and 427 torque. I have not had it back on the dyno since it has been broken in. 50hp is the difference. Honestly, don't know. I'll get the answers next week. You kinda have to surf through the website to even find out they offer a lower cost/lower hp alternative. Apparently they've found a way to make changes to the Variocam which help them add hp-at just a tad over 1 bar they are over 500 hp on the 30 grand package. I like the idea of keeping the motor at 1 bar for long life.

Thanks Miles for the tip, and thanks Grant too-I'll check out a few things. Makes me think I should've worked Raj for the front bumper cover with the big opening . . .

Damian, that will give me incentive to find more bumper covers, lol.
I can't believe I am reading this. It is definitely a mid life crisis thing. Wow, I am in shock.
Damian, you won Herhsey without the package, why DESTROY everyone else with a turbo setup?

Damian,

Please keep me posted on your possible turbo conversion.

BTW, Jason Judd's turbo conversion was done at Deman's in Nyack. Very clean installation. Rick Deman has lots of experience with turbocharging.

Good luck!

Damian,

Be prepared...have a one-way airplane ticket for the ride back.

Once you start, you're hooked...

Start making nice gestures to wife now, it will only help later on.

Wow, I am really surprised to hear this Damian! Now i'll never be able to keep up with you an Raj when we meet =(

Just a quick question, if the Powerhaus setup is bolt on (the 350 hp), does this mean that it will still be 3.0 L engine + Variocam? 8v or 16v? (I don't quite understand turbocharging, sorry)
