Chris, I don't know what the '350hp' conversion consists of-they don't have a pafrts list in the website, so I won't know until next week.

Chris, it can be either way. It all depends how they set it up. To get 350hp on a 968 is very easy with turbo-charging. Also the 968 electrical system is not a bottleneck at that HP. If you start going higher, you run into issues. Based on recent conversations, 400hp is the limit for our stock 968 electronic setup. Anything past that and you will be forced to either run a 951 setup or standalone.
So to answer your question, this can be achieved through a 16 valve head but still should involve an engine rebuild to lower the compression. What normally happens is people go for all the bells and wistles and that when it really gets out of hand and you can double your price.
BTW, the yellow one is still an NA so you should have no problems .

Raj,

Thanks for the explanation. It makes more sense to me now!

I understand fully where you are coming from on the "need for speed" aspect. I am picking up a 330 RWHP 951 on Saturday. What amazes me is that if I dial up the boost, I could potentially be at 400+ RWHP. Let the games begin!
Of course, you would expect nothing less from a guy with the screen name, "NeedPorscheSpeed."

I hope that your trip to Arizona and visit with Mr. Raines goes well. Good luck!

Well, I'm also at the point where I've gotten the car to where I want it mechanically and cosmetically, so more hp is the one hurdle to jump.

Damian,

Just a reminder...Don't forget to make sure your brakes and suspension are up to the job.

Jason, Big Blacks will be added, with xdrilled rotors all around, ss brake lines, and a new brake bias valve. Currently I've got the sport springs and mo30 sways, I might be tempted to go with Paragon's Koni struts and shock package-but I won't track the car, so I'd probably leave the suspension as is for a while. This will only be the 350hp conversion, not one of those monsters like you, Raj, and George have.

"only be 350hp"
Lets see, we are around 400hp, so you will be right there. It would be hardly any different. I guess this year's Hershey Modified Cab contest was too close? You want to make sure you blow everyone out the door next year!

Nope, I can't compete again in that class, I'm looking to take the Concours next year.

400+ hp with 16 valve is a definite possibility.. Witness Dyno Graph.

Some more info: More details on the project.

This one got out of hand with the bells and whistles.

Quite an extreme ride, I'd say, Doode. I guess you and Raj agree, since you went to Motec for engine management. But all that power at .6bar is very impressive.

Damian, you're inching closer to the dark side... I just spent a week zooming around Barcelona in my 951 with the top down and, while it's a stock 951S engine, it's a totally different animal on boost than the S2 cab.

Whatever you decide, have a lot of fun with it!

Thanks, Luis, I can imagine nothing more fun than zipping around eating tapas with an occasional glass of cava to slake the thirst!

Damian, I really look forward to hearing some accurate information about the Powerhaus offerings after your visit!

Does anyone have thoughts on how much the life of a 968 engine will be shortened by converting to either a 350 or 400+ BHP forced induction setup?

Bruce, where did you get the idea that turbocharging will shorten the engines life? You gotta stop paying attention to that BS. When done properly, they are just as reliable and long lasting. How come 951 engines last over 250K?
It costs money to do things right and when you corners is when you shorten an engines life. I could name a few who have shorten their chassis's life? lol.
