Angry Wheel lock key

Hi all,

looking for help. I have the old wheel locks with a key and needed to replace tires. I realised I no longer have the key and wondered if I can order it from the dealer or if anyone have one I can borrow. My mechanic said he can break the lock to get at the lug nut but I prefer not to do that.

Thoughts?

TIA

Each lock set has a different key.

Drill out the lock cylinder, then remove the underlying nut, then throw it away and replace with a stock non-locking nut.

They are absurdly easy to pick with a couple of eyeglass screwdrivers or the like. Jam up the barrel with some scrap paper, put a little tension on the lock with a larger screwdriver, and rake the pins with a smaller screwdriver.
You can also knock the lock out of the barrel with a chisel, but that lacks subtlety.

Look on youtube for rake picking videos if needed.

I would call the dealer. In my experience, “locks” like that generally have 5-10 different combos. It’s nothing like the individuality of an ignition key. My guess is they have one in stock.

Those locks are complete junk as far as security goes.....do not waste your time and real effort on drilling. One good whack with a small chisel laid in the lock teath and it folds like a cheap tent ! Have had to do this to many over the years.
