Just keep the front plate under the passenger seat, this way if pulled over, you can show that you are not using one registration for two cars.

I guess you could say that I failed Emissions Testing because of bar code error! If you want me to take photos of any stickers, please let me know where and what.
Needless to say, I'm a VERY happy dude right now.

I'm not surprised to hear this. I believe these decals were generated and installed at the port in Charleston. I did an article last year on a 968 that had a digit error in the sticker so it did not match the VIN on the rest of the car. I can't read bar codes but I can see this error happening.

Car looks great. Enjoy.

When I look closely at my wheels, I realize that I have only 2 of the 4 center caps. Both of them are the colored crest type, one is pretty badly faded.
What color is original for the 17 inch option rims? The silver ones are much cheaper than the colored ones...

Yogii, check your option code sticker to see if it has code XD4. This is the painted center crest option.
i just finished refurbishing mine.

How did you refurbish them?
Here is the option code sticker from my "maintenance book". Where is it on the car?

XD4 right there.

Thanks for the feedback. Once I get them should they be glued in place?
What do lines 2, 3, and 4 denote?

Yes, your car came with the painted center caps. The sticker on the car should be behind the carpet on the rearmost part of your rear hatch area. The carpet should snap off and you should find the sticker adhered there.
The center caps on our cars were metal (not plastic like newer cars come with), and are friction fitted into the wheel center. You have to remove the wheel from the car and pop the center cap off through the backside.

To refurbish the center caps I sanded out the chips and mars on each cap starting with 150 grit, then 300 grit, and ending with 600 grit sandpaper. I masked the center crest off, painted the caps with wheel paint, removed the masking, and hand painted the red portions of the crest with Testors model paint. Was an easier task than I expected which is a nice surprise when that happens every once in awhile.

Thanks, I will look at the wheels more closely tomorrow. Your center caps came out beautifully
Anyway, 2 of mine are completely gone...

Yogii, The XD4 code is the code for the painted center caps. The 09991 exclusive program is there because of the XD4 option which was part of the exclusive program.

Jeff,

Do you know what line 2, 3 and 4 denote? Maybe something like, "Port of Entry"? Line 2= 968 110?
Curious minds want to know...

Line 2 is the model identifier, 968 110 being North American 968 coupe. They all have that but the 92 coupes have a number of 944 044.
Line 3 is your engine and transmission number.
Line 4 is your paint code and interior code. You can find them all listed here: Codes

Thanks Jeff,

I give you an idea of how NOVICE I am. I did not realize that the tire jack was hiding under/inside the compact spare tire. Do these degenerate with age like the 4 other tires?

Yogii, I have had no luck trying to find an affordable way to replace our donut tire. I was afraid to use mine to drive a 30 mile trip a few years ago and ended up just buying the only regular tire they had that would fit. I guess our spares do not decay very fast since no UV light exposure, etc. but I was still afraid to try it when another somewhat option was available.
