Special Guest Jeff Coe

Jeff Coe a widely recognized authority on the Porsche 968 joined the Midlife Motorheads this week. Listen as Jeff describes his passion (well obsession) for an often-underappreciated transaxle model. Jeff’s pride and joy “Minty” has celebrity status among US spec 968s. It was a Porsche 60th Anniversary My Porsche Classic Contest winner and has been featured in several car magazines and on the My Classic Car TV show.

Such a fount of info. Very interesting. For those of you who haven’t met Jeff, he is a good guy. Of course he beat me at the swap meet but he must have had the better car!

You mean you were blinded by his bright colors.

Grade C huh!?

Jeff you should have mentioned for all the non 968 people how great a driving car the 968 is. I just returned form Santa Barbara with a folding kayak in my rear hatch. I told my brother, "try doing that in your 2011 Boxter Spyder!"

Believe me, there is no one that would like to give the 968 a higher collector rating then me but I have to be realistic,. And a C isn't terrible. I would say most 996s and Boxsters aren't even collectible. the market is what it is. Also, you know there are a number of specific 968s with unusual options and features that move into the B or even A category. I would say a 968 Turbo S is a grade A collectible.

Agree with Jeff, bit with a little hope. I purchased my 968 off Craigslist for $3,400 6 years ago. Roll back the calendar a couple of decades ago and you could probably see big block Mopars going for cheap too. The 914 has taken off recently as has the 912. Maybe, if given enough time, the 968 will be the one to have and will creep into the “B” category.
