Default Rims for the Cab

No financial gain but wanted to float my choice of rims for the Cabriolet
8.5 (45P) for front and 11 (55P) for rear... I have edited to add that rims are 19"

Do you think an 11" rear would work or an 8.5" front? I take it that they are 18"? What size are they?

If they are 18" wheels, I would say they might look a little bit too big for the car. $0.02

heya
trawling thru WWW and they are putting 20x275 with 20%profiles on them
i have opted for 19 with 30 profile to keep the rolling diameter pretty close for speedo
ill post pics once I get there
Rims will arrive late next week or early following and I'll get the tyres fitted up
will post once it's done

I have no idea about the offsets on my aftermarket wheels. But it did not go that well, just like often happens with aftermarket. I had to add a spacer up front to get past the center bearing area (the wheel guy swore he had a set on a "968" without any issues). My rears are 10". I rub unless I run mildly stretched tires or brands of tires that run undersized. My wheels are 18 and I think they look a little too big. Good luck.

Heya Eyeman
yes you have to get the 72mm hub opening to get the bearing in.
What exactly are your tyre size/profiles for F&R.
I don't believe they look to big at all.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...LOL

Where in the rear do you rub...inside on arm/shock or outside on the guard

Those were 225/40/18fr Nexxens maybe, for sure 255/35/18 rear Nexxens. I now am running Michelin PSS 225/40/18 fr and PS4S 245/35/18r. I rub the fender where the bumper cover connects, etc. but not so much now after some mods and running the stretched 245s.

So my std rims/tyre sizes are
Fr - 17/225/45 on an 8' rim
Rear- 17/255/40 on a 9.5 inch rim
and "nil" rub
I might just need a spacer on the rears (5mm or so) but I think fronts will be fine.

I had busted one of my stock 17" wheels. I had it repaired and then it started leaking and needed repairing again so I just went aftermarket. Back then there were no good trade sites, etc and I ended up giving those wheels away. These aftermarket wheels are beat up now so I'll eventually go some other way. What I would love is a set of lightweight Volk TE type wheels..

From the wheel dynamics site
THE PORSCHE 944 "1987-1991" (Including Turbo models) & 968 "1993-1995"
Extreme - 19x8.5 (45) & 19x10 (48)
They both look great to me. There looks like there might have been some lowering but I guess I will find out.
I just love the look of a wheel filling the arch.

WHY?

Larger rims and low profile tires weight more, absorb road irregularities less well, place undo strain on all other suspension components. WHY?

Maybe if you have a track car, but for a road car, why?

I would stay away from Victor equipment wheels. They have had failures and don't stand behind their products. Do a search and you will see how bad they are.
I suggest sticking with Porsche wheels or BBS. Lots of good wheels pop up regularly. I would not go with 19 but 18 max.
