Solid Transmission Mount

Hi IR, your 3M window weld photos are showing for me, they might be dead links.

Sorry about that and thanks for pointing that out. I clearly did not load the pictures properly, but I hope they are visible now. Please let me know.
The odd thing for me was that the pictures were fine on my own computer, but not visible on anyone else's.

Perfect! You think this would be alright for a tight street car?

I haven't even started the car, so I have no idea how much vibration will come through. But the 3M still feels soft like it will absorb vibration but firm such that there's less movement. I would venture to say that doing this in a tight streetcar would be good. It could improve your shifter feel.
After installing it today, I was excited to see how the shifter felt. The transmission has been redone. I messed around with the shifter control on the transmission to get the parts to have as little wiggle as I could. I installed a new plastic cup at the bottom of the shifter arm where it attaches to the torque tube. And I used the least worn shifter rod that I had, which had very little wear on the arm. I don't think the urethane affects the shifter feel while the car is not running or moving, but a stiffer mount is supposed to give more exact shifts. My shifter now, with all these little adjustments, feels as close to "gate-like" as I can imagine.

Nice work IR, you should feel some improvements there. Might be the first 968 urethane transmission mod, first one i've seen.
I did this last year on my 951, good for a tight street car. I used an 80A hardness Urethane.

I ordered one of those. Pete doesn't have them right now and has been out of the shop helping a family member. At some point he will make them again, but it's a few months off still.

Didn't put many miles on the car this past season but there seems to be an improvement and smoothness in shifting.
It might have to do with the fact that I hadn't driven the car for the year prior to performing the modification but there sure seemed to be a better seat of the pants feel under acceleration with the stiffened mount.
Vibrations? My car is fairly loud and I drive with the windows down. More like the sound of music!
