lift bars
There's a company called Porken that makes a jacking system called "liftbars". Here's the web site.

I know some people with Caymans, 911s and 928s that use them and like them a lot. Very simple system that makes it much easier to jack up and support a car. It uses the original jack points, You jack up one side at a time, slide the jack stands under the bar and you're done. I have been talking with the owner, Ken, who lives in Portland (thus the company name), about bars for the 968. Not available but he can produce them with just a couple of orders.
Cost would be $234 for a set, plus shipping.
He would like to see a 968 to get exact measurements and make sure the bars will clear the lower body skirts. I've sent him pics and measurements from my car but seeing a car would be best way to get measurements.
Is there someone in the Portland area that would be willing to meet with him? His email is info@liftbars.com
If he can design bars for the 968, is there any interest in placing a group order?
FYI, I have no incentive to make this happen, other than it looks like a good product for our cars. Wish I'd had them last year when I did the new suspension and brakes.

I am semi interested but I'm probably going to buy a max Jax or quick jack so I'm not sure if I would be in. I have seen those though and it looks like a great idea.

one thing I like about the liftbars is easy storage, can slide them under my work bench.

Here's an update on the lift bars. A 968 owner in Portland was able to coordinate with Ken and use his 968 as a template.FYI, I have no financial interest in liftbars, only wanted to have a set to use on my 968. And it looks like that's now a reality.
The 968 owner's comments:
" Met up with Ken today to fit the first set of 968 liftbars. They are very well made and substantial without being overly heavy.
They were a tight fit on my car due to PO deformation of my front lift points but fit fine with a little coaxing. They don't need to fit perfectly as the car's front lift points can flex a fair amount - once they get some weight they just sort of "pop" into the sockets in the lift points. The "cradle" end of a standard FLAPS jackstand - problematic with our cars - fits the liftbars perfectly.
Ken is ready to take orders - not sure if he would consider a group buy but I am guessing it would be an easier run for him if multiple parties were interested. Individually,"
You can lift the car as high as the jackstands will extend, just alternate sides extending the jackstands.. These jackstands are a lowest setting.

I am considering these as well. Will they fit in the rear hatch area of a 968 coupe? Anybody know their length? Is the the set, 2 bars, one for each side? Early February I plan on driving near Portland and am thinking about picking up a set then and save on shipping.

There are two bars, one for each side. That way you can lift the entire car. Don't know length, but from photos should fit with the back seat down. You'd have to contact Ken at liftbars to get actual lenght. info@liftbars.com
