Replacement rubber seal for cabriolet trunk
I need to replace the rubber seal around the trunk opening of my ‘95 cab.
The Porsche part is around $220 and requires 3-4 weeks to arrive from Germany. It is the same seal used on the 944S2 cab as well.
There is a company called Only944.com (no affiliation, but many of you might be familiar with them) that sells a seal which they claim will work just fine. Their seal is not the exact same profile as the Porsche seal but it looks similar in the (poor) photos they show online. Their price is $89.
Has anyone used this aftermarket seal? Are there any other ways to obtain a new or good used seal at a reasonable cost?
Edit, corrected the name of the seller.

I have purchased a few items from Only944 and have been very satisfied. Just purchased my second shift boot from him. I did purchase his hatch seal for a 951 I had previously and it worked just as advertised. No disappointments with them.

I checked their website and it seems like they still have the part and it’s about 35 pounds (about $50 USD). I wonder how they can be this cheap for a Porsche part. Maybe it is an aftermarket part? It’s good to read that it matched your original seal though. Thanks.

I thought about that, but I want to explore the option of new first.
The problem is that the newest used pieces are now 23 years old and age is not kind to rubber products. On the other hand the trunk seal is probably the most protected, least worn seal in most vehicles.
In recent years I have made it a habit to apply a conditioner to the rubber seals on all of my prized vehicles once a year, and I’d like to think they won’t dry, crack, or tear nearly as soon.

I ended up ordering the aftermarket similar trunk seal. It arrived and I installed it today. It slipped onto the trunk perimeter easily and it seems to seal the trunk lid very well.
Here are some photos of the old and new seals side by side. You can see there is an extra bulge on one side of the seal which provides no function for a 944S2/968 but it doesn’t cause any problems either.
