Was worse when car was pointed up hill, had to wait 5 minutes to get it to sputter. When move to plat surface, sputtered every time, but would not run, only crank. Had 1/2 tank of gas.
Started fine next day after I had it towed home. How do you test the fuel pump? I did what my Haynes 944 manual said. Has 55 psi at idle. Removed vacuum line to pressure regulator, and pressure went up to 60 psi. Clamped off return hose and pressure stayed at 55 psi, then slowly dropped to 20 psi in 20 seconds, and engine was stalling. Bad fuel pump?

see here for how to make a jumper to bypass the DME/fuel pump relay and force the pump to run for testing.

As I said the pump now works and the engine runs. Was the problem the DME/Fuel pump relay, fuel pump, pressure regulator, or maybe something else? I didn't want to get stuck again. I ordered a new fuel pump. If that's not it, next the fuel filter, then the pressure regulator. Will also try a new DME/Fuel pump relay. Any other suggestions?
