Guess that part...!

Hi there,

I was looking at my coolant and notice a loose wire in the engine bay. I tracked the wire down and it is coming from the below (think with white top):

Vacuum value?

I think this is a vacuum value, however not sure. What is its purpose!?

In an effort to then try to locate where the wire goes to, I found a male end plug what was behind these 3 hoses just after the airbox. Notice the thin black wire coming in behind.

Wire coming from vacuum valve goes here?

Car has no issues but just curious what this is.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

I replaced that vacuum valve. it's for the fuel system, can't remember its name now, part of the carbon canister Evap system I believe. The black "wire" connecting to the throttle body is the hose that provides the vacuum and I think it plugs into the top of that vacuum valve.

purge valve to pull the fuel vapors from the charcoal canister while the engine is running.

Awesome, thank you both for confirming. Mystery solved :)

Where does the Vacuum line for this valve tie into the intake manifold or vacuum lines. Thanks.

he noted both ends in the pictures of the control line and the purge line is connected at the lowest point on the intake manifold by the engine support arm.

there is a vacuum line schedule sticker on the hood.

Thanks

For what it is worth, I hooked this back up and I noticed car wold shutter at high speed. For example, 5th or 6th gear smooth throttle at 100-110 kph - squeeze throttle to accelerate - car would really shutter / feel hesitant. Pulled over, disconnected hose, everything ran smooth again.

Strange...

Hey Stoppy sounds like your fuel tank venting system is not working right and when you have strong vacuum on your canister the engine is getting starved for fuel your vacuum locking your fuel tank in other words!

Hey there,
It is crazy you said that. I went to the track the follow day and had a problem where fuel was leaking from *somewhere* near the filler neck (after filling up), dripping down by the passenger rear tire. Once I drove the car a while, the drip has since stopped. There was pretty good vacuum on the filler cap when I took it off, so I know vacuum is happening. I also don't think there is a crack or hole on the neck otherwise I'd suspect vacuum wouldn't work.

So if it is fuel venting, any ideas on where to start looking? I'd really like to have that hose connected and the car not run poorly.
Thanks!

Replaced this valve yesterday and took it for a drive (also hooked the cable back up), drove like a dream. So far it looks like this valve was not functioning properly.
