What would you do? repaint or wrap?
So I've been wrestling with the idea of wrapping my car with a different color since I saw one wrapped in Riviera blue the other day. The car looked sweet. My car has had the passenger rear quarter panel resprayed and I don't think the work was done by a quality shop. Clear coat is wavy etc... orange peeling. It needs to be addressed, along with the rear deck lid. Clear coat seems to be burnt off in one area on the right hand corner. The paint on the car to me seems a bit tired but it doesn't warrant a total respray. Respraying these two parts may make the car looking inconsistent.... This car is black and I already own a 993TT that is also black.
So what would you do?
1) Respray whole car black $12K
2) Wrap car in Maritime Blue $6K
3) Paint the 2 areas that need to be addressed $2K.
Thanks.

Porsche paints of this vintage all have a large amount of orange peel. I would not worry about it they used very little reducer when they painted these cars causing the orange peel. More than likely you can wet sand and reduce the amount of orange peel considerably. I would try this first.
If you like the color and it is only minor work why not just address the paint issues? The problem with wrapping is they don't always get it perfect and I have heard stories of the underlying paint being damaged when removed.
I believe the solid colors were single stage so the car may have been repainted if it is clear coated

I plan to take it to a quality shop in town and see what they say..... I agree with Anthony, hopefully they can wet sand it and fix it. I'm just a little **** with this car because I believe this car is so special I'm not going to settle for mediocrity. The car is a 1994 3.6T.

Hi Kevin, this is Ray with the Rivera Blue 993 at BBQ last week. I agree to address the area with impression first. Then get it wrap in the color you want and protect the black paint under.
I seen some low quality vinyl mess up the paint when they get remove. Typically big name like 3M, Avery are design to be removable and won't do any damage. Maritime Blue or even Mint Green wrap 3.6T will be super!!

Wetsanding and paint correction would be first. If not completely happy then a quality full repaint would be in the works. Wrapping a car with a possible defect in the paint job is only masking the problem. If your going to spend $6k for a wrap, might as well go all the way and get the full repaint.
