964 turbo help needed
I am new here. I have a 964 turbo 3.3. I need to know if it is possible to use a warm up regulator from a 930 part # 930 606 105 00 as a replacement part for my Porsche. my original part number is 438 140 112 or from Porsche 965 606 105 00. Also what are the correct warm up regulator fuel pressures for a 964 3.3 turbo.

I am sure it is not the correct part, the diaphragm is probably different and the WUR calibration and design should match your lambda computer. I am pretty sure it costs the same to rebuild either one so why bother to try and put the wrong part?

I think I have read this post in 3 different sections.
Put the right one on or have the old one rebuilt.
( Brian leask WUR ) Search that in google.
On a side note, Post some pics of your car please!

FWIW, I have been told that it's possible to put a 930 WUR in a 965 and have it work. My understanding is that the big difference between the two parts is that the 965 has altitude compensation in it, while the 930 does not. But this info is second hand. I've not attempted to do this myself.

I'll second mglobe - I think altitude compensation is the main difference.
I strongly recommend sending your correct WUR to Brian Leask - www.930wur.com if memory serves.
I just did this and while it may take some fiddling to get fuel pressures/AFRs spot on - it works GREAT. My car is running GREAT.

930 606 105 00 equates bosch oem 0 438 140 016 and has been used in early 3.0 930 turbo engines. these type has significant other pressure values and more important :no full load enrichment. it is not recommended to use these type in 964 engines.
here the pressure values for 964 turbo 3.3

I wonder if Leask can modify a 930 WUR so that it works in a 965?

Thanks guys for all the info. You been a great source of advice. I have contacted Brian Leaks the problem is I am in South Africa and shipping is a bit risky. I bought the Porsche with part number 438 104 112 in it but from my searches it seems to be from a 930 the correct part I think is 438 140 160. New part from Porsche seems to be the only option for now.

correct, 964 3.3 has been equiped with 438 140 160 / 965 606 105 00.
today these wur´s are available from bosch as exchange parts, not a bargain, just a bit more poular priced as from porsche.

my new wur 435 140 160
well I received my new wur from Porsche original part 438 140 160 and look at the difference between the 964 3.3 turbo ( larger ) and the old 930 3.3 438 140 112 I removed from my car. So it seems the previous owner had fitted a 930 wur. Thanks again for all the advise.

The CIS wur had increasing levels of sophistication in later generations. The 930 version has boost enrichment that the n/a one don't have. The one used for the 964T differs from the 930 wur in that it has altitude compensation, for example.
You could get any 930 3.3 wur to work if it was made adjustable by B. Leask if you had to.

Now, that's a bugger!
Who will rebuild my WUR now?
My car ('78 SC with '92 965/964 turbo 3.3) started coughing, blacksmoking, running on 5 cyl etc due to a very empty fuel tank after my last track day.
I've checked the injection nozzles, and found one clogged, changed the fuel filter, and opened and cleaned my WUR.
Now it wont start. Possibly due to a fracture in the electric wire between the connector and the bimetal arm. (I could not really see any damage after assembly, just that the isolation around one of the wires had scaled off, and the wire itself looked sort of crushed together under there)
Here is what it looked like when I first opened it
And here is some of the content I poured out of it
Wish me luck in finding someone who can rebuild it for me.
Cheers from Norway,
Lasse
