Warped rotors??
Man this is pissing me off, i just replaced my front rotors less than 1500 miles ago and have never gotten on them too hard. Now when i hit brakes im getting a shimmy in the steering wheel. Nothing pisses me off more than warped rotors. How can this happen in less than 1500 miles with light driving???? Is there anything i can check or do to prevent or get rid of this???? My last rotors were warn to the nub but smooth as butter.

Are you sure they're warped? It would be extremely difficult to warp discs as thick as these (they're something like 32mm thick I think). Could it be the mounting surfaces (hub to disc) are not perfectly flush, or maybe pads not wearing evenly, maybe one sticky piston?

Jerry,
My steering wheel shakes sometime on roads with bad ruts from heavy traffic. Also, your alignment could contribute towards this? If I remember correctly, don't you have a higher mileage 964 turbo? Maybe you could replace the shock tower busings?

Agree with the others could be uneven pads etc., you have to drive these cars very very hard to warp the discs. Hapened to me a twice this year (track car) never happened before, ended up changing to big red at the front.

Thanks for replying guys , yes im pretty sure i did break in correctlly, i did replace pads and rotors with new porsche oem stuff from sunset. I have read where brake dust can buildup inside and make them off balance i am going to take them apart when i get home from my trip and check it all out. It is encouraging hearing you say that they would be difficult to warp so maybe ill be ok.
Thanks alot

Jerry,
I would say always clean the holes out; I have gone through a complete set of rotors, front and back this year because of spider cracks. I use a drill bit and a set of vice grips...

Well i took my wheels off and when i spin the rotor i can hear it rubbing against the pads during about half the rotation then the other half it is not rubbing against the pads this to me indicates that the rotors are warped since by my logic the pads are stationary then the only variable could be the rotor. Would you guys agree with this??? The bummer is i called sunset and the guy said i could indeed send them back then they have to send them to porsche and they will determine wether or not to give me a refund. The whole process takes like 2 months. What should i do??

Take them to Advance Auto or one of those chains and have them resurface the rotors; i think they'll do it for a very small fee(Not sure if this would correct the problem)??? Or get Hawk Blues and take it to the track (Joking)

Thanks holling how does advance do that???? I would doubt that its "recommended" by porsche but im not forking out another 500 bucks for another set of rotors unless i have too. Thats new shocks money!

They have a machine in house and usually in the back by the oil drum; you can resurface cross-drilled rotors if they are brand new. I wish I still used that size for the front; I would buy them off of you and ruin them at the track
Just out of curiosity, is the vibration present when you drive around an exit ramp (with the weight of the car loaded on the front suspension?

No holling i havent noticed any vibration under turning, on the 993 turbo board a guy gave me this link which is really good, apparently its pretty hard to warp rotors so i may be ok. Im going to dissasemble everything when i get time and well see what happens.
Thanks 38D and Holling
