15 years ago today!!

So 15 years ago today my beloved cobalt blue 3.6T arrived. I was reminded by my wife as I wished her happy birthday this morning. I recall sending the money weeks before for a car I had yet to put eyes on trusting a lister for his opinion and expertise. He had commented that if I did not buy it he was so I took that in good faith and I haven't looked back since.

Something about this day. Everything associated with it has proven to be something special.

All these years later it still gains the same attention if not more. I am lucky to own such a great example and more importantly a wonderful wife who has no issue with sharing her Bday with a car. After all it was her who limited me to any color other than black, red, white or silver leaving very few and taking over a year to locate. Her blessing on the color sealed the deal. I am truly blessed.

Congratulations.
When I was in the market, I was torn between a Turbo and a Pantera.
My wife recommended the Turbo. She thought the ownership experience would be better with the Turbo.
I'm glad I listened.

Congratulations to you marrying the right person! The car choice is good too.
(Today is my 25 year wedding anniversary and I am sitting across the world. :( )

My favorite color.
I need to invent a time machine....
It's interesting to see how many long-term owners we have on this forum.

Thanks everyone. Paul I think it is because it is hard to give them up once you own them. Undeniably in the past 15 years the modern Porsche has come a long way from these old school turbos but at a cost. Something about them makes these cars very special.

Wicks, The car was super clean to begin with. Seems you're taking it to the next level.

As the 964 Turbo values start to cross with the 2nd generation GT3 (2015 - 2017), I'm tempted to make a change. Yet, here I am planning to refurbish my interior and taillights this coming winter, so I know what you mean.

So Anthony, how exactly did you find your car?

Mine resided two miles away from me. I saw it for sale on Ebay but it didn't sell there.

I hunted 2 years to get Lola. She's not going anywhere, for at least a decade I'd say. Prices at that time - I'd guess $800k-1 million for a good 3.6. :)

Your wife??!!!???? ... I'm gonna have to call her about this. wife ownership is crossing the line. :roflmao:

seriously Tony, you have a great wife,.. .she is indeed your better half. Oh, and your collection (AND GARAGE!!) are to lust after. I have not spent NEARLY enough time rummaging around in your garage. I am SURE there are treasures in there that have many stories behind them.

You are clearly being modest with how that Liberty event played out for you. I was so pleased to see that you took a first place. Having seen pictures of all the high end exotics there, it is a pleasure to hear that folks still lust after the 964 Turbo. And your Cobalt color just stands out in a crowd.

I really like the picture with NYC in the background too. That one is a keeper for sure.

Congrats on your anniversary. We will hit 15 yrs with ours next year too.

Steve,

You guys are always welcome. It has been too long since we last got together. I do have a wealth of collectables, literature and parts, I could probably buy another 964 if I unloaded most of it but I have a hard time selling things.

Cindy said she was renewing my contract for another 5 years at double my prior salary so I guess I am set. LOL
