I agree but this restoration stuff has gotten so expensive. I just finished bare metal on my 94 Turbo which was already nice and $$$ I did a correct restoration to my ‘69 Boss9 13 years ago and a full restoration to my ‘67 Mustang GT ~10 years ago and they costed half of the 94. I am in the 4th year of restoring my 72 911S and I am starting to get cold feet. Do I love this car that $$much? not really, but you really can’t stop once you get rolling.
No doubt as the prices go up the costs do as well. I have access to wholesale pricing on most everything and it is getting expensive for me to do the work myself. Although it really isn't worth doing unless you do it right and when done properly many buyers don't care as much if it has paintwork so long as there is no accident damage and it is fully documented. It is getting very hard to find original paint cars that aren't beaten to hell.

Do some research on bushings as many are NLA and you have to make compromises. I have used Dow betaseal urethane U-428Plus to fix torn bushings on some cars that didn't want to go aftermarket or monoball. It does an amazing job and can always be switched out later when Porsche decides to release them again for a small fortune. FYI this also stiffens up good ones.

Good to have you back. A lot has changed no doubt.

Actually all the US 3.6's were sold as 1994's however the majority were built and delivered in 1993 with revised 1994 vin numbers. Porsche did this more often than realized Especially in 1993/1994. I believe this was done so they could get around the US DOT requirements for the testing of 50 cars for each model year. All the MY 94 718 coded cars have 1993 MY P coded engine and trans. There were only 406 3.6's imported including all the S models and Canadian cars. An additional 50 tubs saved probably to make RS's

You guys got all the fun stuff back then we couldn't.
Unfortunately, a windows-out full respray is probably my only option based on where the rust is coming through:

Rust bubble top left edge of rear screen

Not rust, but the rear quarter window capping strips both need repainting.

Rust bubble under front screen rubber

I'm not going to even contemplate bodywork estimates until the Christmas holidays are out of the way (and paid for!) and then I'll look at some quotes in the new year. Fortunately I've just found out that one of the only Porsche UK approved bodyshops in the north is just a few miles from where I work, so that's a reasonable place to start.

In the meantime I'm collecting part numbers for all of the other bits and pieces that will need replacing (all the rubber trim and seals, the sunroof sealing strips, etc).

Nice to hear you`ve still got your turbo. I sold mine after spending a bucket on it a couple of years before prices started to sky rocket. Easy to be a winner in the hindsight game though.

I have a set of 3.6 Speedlines that i was keeping on the off chance i acquired another 964 in the future but those days are probably over. If your interested I can send some pictures through.
