Are you sure you need a compressor?
The refrigerant diffuses through the hoses over time.
I would change the receiver/dryer and charging fittings and try charging with R-134a before I started replacing the expensive stuff.

Converted to r134 several years ago and as a matter of fact, just had it refilled an hour ago. Going to the Indy I was sweating and coming home, my *** was frozen. Do not waste time and money on doing R12 again as it's getting harder and expensive every year. I'd switch it to 134 and call it a day.
