Default Opinion on value

I know that asking for opinions is a dangerous thing, but I need help on pricing a 1991 911 C4 Cabriolet. She's got just under 88,000 miles with 2,500 miles on a complete engine rebuild. She also has a new mechanically repaired convertible top. Her paint is original red, no known accidents, clean carfax report, 4 owners, professionally maintained, etc.

See photos in this post of exact car:

Somewhere in the vicinity of $40,000 depending on a number of variables.......such as who did the engine rebuild, and condition of rest of mechanicals.

If it's really ready to go and needs nothing and passes a compression/leak down I would actually say closer to 45/50k Looks really clean ad fully original paint...it's a good car.

I would agree with you u7t2p7 if it weren't for the new motor. If that is a 20k bill and everything is new, that goes a long way if the right person did the work. Maybe not so much for a <5k reseal of the heads but if we're talking new P&C, new clutch and flywheel, the whole 9 yards... that could push it to that 45k mark pretty easy when you consider what else is on the market at 40.

This. A car that's running with completely fresh gear is worth a decent premium to a car that you need to put what could be anywhere from 2-15k depending on all sorts of variables or circumstances in a car that hasn't been checked out.

Don't want to hijack this thread, have similar car,
but has 12,000 original miles, and condition of the car reflects it...value?

I'm not really sure on this one. It's not really a collector car, so not sure the mileage is going to get you a huge boost in value like it would if it were a rare color C2 Coupe. I'm guessing here, but maybe in the $55k-$65k range for the right buyer.
