Fan bearing replacement - without replacing the hub
Has anyone found a suitable replacement bearing for the alternator fan hub?
17 Id x 32 od x 14 w
It's a dual row bearing and I can't find a good one anywhere. I hate to spend 150 for a new hub when I can just buy a bearing and press it in...diy to follow if I can find the bearing.

The short answer is no. The reason I say that is because I have heard of folks usint (2) 7mm bearings in place of the standard 14mm that comes in the oem hub. The problem with this (from and engineering perspective) is that all the axial load is placed on the outer most bearing, and not distributed to the second unit--thereby shortening its lifespan considerably. To further answer your inquiry, as of yet no one I know had sourced the original INA unit or like dimensional bearing.

I'm not sure if Accurate Bearing would be able to help source the bearing you need, but they help a lot of people restoring old wood and metal working machines. It might be worth a call.

Do you have the INA part number or that exact dimensions? It wasn't a problem to source the dual-distributor bearings once I located the part number and these shouldn't be any different.

Jason. When I get ahold of a spare fan hub, I'll pull that number.
It has to be possible for us all to not have to spend so much for the entire assembly...when it's just a bearing. Porsche can be so ridiculous sometimes...

My time to add value has come!
Haven't posted in a while, but time returned and I can add value to the community once more.
I pressed the bearing out of my fan just two weeks ago... and had it easily accessible... so here are all 3 numbers that appear on the bearing:
INA 0045
14 H 0531
LD 17/32 2RSR AH04

I had tackled this issue just 2 weeks ago. Having no luck sourcing the fan bearing as well as having the bearing hub being upgraded once before to non serviceable unit I opted to do single hub conversion. Looks better in my opinion, and its easier to service if the belt goes. Some mentioned battery charging light will come on at idle but I have not experienced such thing.
Thanks!

Looks like a demel is the way - I don't like this solution to getting the bearing out.
That said, the early cars had a proper removable snap ring, so if you happen to have an old hub, yu are good to go!
