C4 ABS-off experiment
Since my front right ABS sensor failed couple of days ago I've been driving with ABS off. (ABS and PDAS light on). Other than locking wheels when hard braking I also noticed positive difference when cornering. The car feels more connected to the road surface. I've been told that with ABS and PDAS light on I still have the advantage of mechanical AWD.
Is it only my imagination or has anybody else experience this positive change? I know the C2 guys often install ABS switch for racing purposes. I don't know if this change in driving characteristics is comparable to the a C2 car with ABS off, but I would be interested in finding out what it takes to install C4 ABS-off switch.
Thanks!
Andrew

On a C2 the only difference would be under braking.
Interesting on the c4 you see this

Three Wheelin'
Cup cars ran an ABS off switch, just a red **** on the dash wired to the fusebox, at least 1 member on here has retrofitted and said it was relatively easy (ThomasC2, IIRC)

A c4 with the pdas off is the way you want to be on the track. Our abs is terrible, and for track use you don't want it. Further , with the system off you are 39% power to the front and 61% to the rear, with no torque transfer to the front under slippage or bumps, which results in significantly better handling and way less understeer since you aren't locking the wheels together- which induces huge understeer.
You can shut off the system by holding the switch in the car for 10+ seconds. Or you can unplug it in the frunk.
I prefer it this way.

I can confirm after recent autocross session that the car felt very lively on track and cornering was greatly improved. Power delivery was predictable and my lines very tight. Very happy with this unexpected mod/fault.
Is there a way to automaticaly disable the warning lights and alarm on startup?
Thanks!

Based on my experience, just replace your brake lights with LED bulbs and your PDAS should quit working, but with no alarm/warning lights. The 60 rear 40 front will still work as will the ABS.

Goughary talks about the PDAS switch on centre console right next to swifter. Turn it right and wait 10 seconds, you will hear a click. Myself, I unplugged abs fuse. Takes care of both ABS and PDAS.
carlskisWP: Do You know why this happens when replacing bulbs with led?
Haven't done it myself, just curious.
Thanks!
