Default Feeler for 1993 C4

Hello,
I'm considering selling my beloved GP White/Cashmere C4, am halfway hoping no one will contact me so I will keep it
I am the third owner, 2nd owner was the proverbial little old lady (78 years old) that owned the car from '96 to '15 when I bought it. All records in those dates, dealer serviced including last bill which was $12k plus for clutch, head seal, AC work and some 4wd bits that led to her selling the car to me.
I have factory training so took on the rest of the project, which was a host of small issues from the typical oil leaks, wiring issues (alarm, cruise, wing up, etc), leftover maintenance (shocks, brakes, valve adjustment, distributor svc) and cosmetic items (repair rust at lower windshield corners, paint rear bumper, shorter boot and key fob, wheels etc) and upgrades (Cup chassis brace, PCR Radio with Nav and Bluetooth, Solid state DME relay, LED bulbs interior and headlight, etc). As you can guess I spent an arm and a leg to get the car to where I could use it every day ( my chicken scratch list is included in photos), my intention being to have a daily driver with none of the 964 issues that drive me crazy.
I also have a lot of motorsport engineering experience, so I spent a lot of setup time getting the car to handle as I like, including a new set of Conti SuperSport tires on the 7x9 inch Cup wheels (all factory no repos). All work has been done in the last 5000 miles, to be ready for the Amelia Island PCA event where I met several Rennlisters on the Concours field. FYI this is NOT a Concours car, although it is very presentable I use it on a daily basis and it has 132k miles.
This is a bonafide "late" 964 with one super cool option, body color wheels. This really makes the car for me and shows up on the COA, not something that I just decided to do. Numbers matching, clean Carfax, all options present and everything on this car works from the AC to the fans to the clock, alarm, cruise, etc. There is nothing to be done mechanically other than enjoy it.
My caveats are that the car was repainted to a nice standard by the 2nd owner, original paint remains in door jambs, engine, trunk and under hood but it is a second paint car in original GP white color. Ft renders have been off but no welds were disturbed in the engine bay. Paint condition is pretty nice but has some chips, my next item to tackle would have been to paint or replace the door cap and rear window trim black. 2nd gear has the typical stiffness when cold, shifts perfectly when warm, clutch feel is perfect and that wonderful 964 sound. It has miles, so please don't complain about the miles if its not for you that's fine, but the car is mechanically as good as anything I have owned or driven. I'm not looking for the "if it just was a C2" or "if it had 50k miles" but if you are looking for a great, ready to use late 964 this is probably one of very few good ones on the market.
I'm pricing the car at $65000. I'm not really into offers as I would like an excuse to keep the car, but have some other needs at the moment. If this is the car you have been looking for we can talk about it, always good to talk to 964 guys. Happy hunting, Cole

Great write up. Anyone who knows these cars know that many have deferred maintenance of the type you've fixed and the cost can quickly mount up to fix it, especially if you have no DIY skills. GLWS.

BTW: I've never understood the type of buyer behaviour you mention. It's like talking to a woman saying that if they were younger/taller/different hair colour etc you'd be attracted to them. Why engage in the conversation in the first place?

Don't think you will get much contact at 65K.

Thanks for the comments John, in hindsight that probably wasn't necessary to mention in the RL community. Everyone here pretty much gets it.

I stand corrected. Might give me a good excuse to keep it!

But find another late 964 with cool options that's "done." At any price.

Follow up on a few questions:
No I don't have the original window sticker, records start in '96.
Gauges were done by Palo Alto.
I do still have the original CDR Radio that came with the car.

Looks very clean, especially for 132k miles. The market seems to have increased lately for the 964 so it doesn't hurt to start with a high ask, but I have a feeling that $65k is ambitious.

Let us know if you end up selling it.

Copy that, just an FYI it is not advertised for sale anywhere other than the "feeler" post on RL. I can't handle the tire kickers.

At $65K, expect tire kickers. Agree with the others that $65K is very ambitious.

Good luck with the sale

Dissenting voice.:

When one sees what is for sale, and at what price, then I can see where this one at 65K can be a good buy for the non-DIYer. With this mileage, any car will need a boatload of work, from the silly missing clip, to the daunting engine-out work. It does add up (I know, I have done it on my 160K mile car).

So if it ticks all the right boxes for someone loking for a *clean* no issues car, then...

I don't dare add up how much I have put into my very cheaply bought car.

That's the dichotomy with any old Porsche whether it has miles or not, you don't know how much it will drain your bank account until you start writing checks. I think many are in rationalization mode at the time of purchase and see less than ideal cars through rose tinted glasses. Even if you have average or slightly above DIY mechanical abilities and enjoy the process of laying hands on your car as many of us do, the cost of parts adds up very quickly when the while your in there syndrome kicks into effect. Large ticket items like engine and gearbox rebuilds are well beyond the abilities of the average DIYer and end up at a specialist with -$$$$

nice car but agree with comments around ambitious pricing for a c4 respray with mileage.

most people around here understand the cost associated with these cars...but that's the price of doing business. might you make up some of that from the right buyer? sure, but the rest is sunk cost.

glws. i'm still trying to picture that 78 year old memaw behind the wheel.

"priced to keep" when you're asking way more than the Chequered Flag International example they just listed.

Agreed with most here. You are approaching 1994 C4 WB pricing at $65k. Gorgeous car, and sounds like you have taken excellent care of it. The market isn't quite there for a repainted C4 with that kind of mileage.

Thanks for the comp, I had been looking for one! They seem similar and within 10% on price, but I do prefer the wheel option on my car.

Regardless of the other negative responses, never did understand the reasoning of disparaging someone else's thread, it looks like you have found a good data point and I thank you for that.
