You are missing the 3rd hose. There are 3 oil lines, 2 to intake, 1 to crank case. Leave the crank case hose alone -biggest line. The oil line going to the intake prior to the butterfly can be vented to a catch can. The oil line going to the intake manifold after the butterfly (vacuum pressure) needs to have a close oil separator can added to stop oil migration from tank to intake manifold. This will stop oil migration into intake. Run this on my car.
I'm running one of these on the smaller pipe to the engine side of the butterfly and it catches a teaspoon or two per track day or 1000 kms .. yet to open the intake to review the impact but will do at some point soon
HiWind -post what you find - like the compressor filter idea. I have a can with a clear side hose that displays oil level - empty after every DE, but not enough oil to worry about. Figure I could do 6 to 8 track days before even coming close to issue.
Oh!! Just as an FYI, I have a Varioram installed and the oil started leaking out the lower seal on intake manifold. After I rebuilt, went route to reduce oil flow into intake manifold. So far no issues.
also thinking to reduce the size of the larger hose coming out of the top of the oil tank vent then 'T' two hoses into one hose in to oil catch can similar to Hiwind's setup.
Gus, the third hose that has 180 degree curve from crank case vent to the oil tank, i defintely plan to leave alone. i'm not too worried about oil going into the oil tank. The two coming out (small and large) what you call 'before butterfly' and 'after butterfly' - i feel should both go into oil catch can. And block off those two openings going into the intake - makes sense? would love to know what all those other sensors and hoses on top do. i know the IACV or Idle Control Valve 'catch' the engine from stalling. What about the other stuff. Looks so messy. Looking at the distributor delete (coil on plug) with AFM delete to Mass Air Flow. Maybe that's another thread....
Alex if you see what I added to Gus' excellent oil tank thread I found the small catch can/breather too small next to the filter and with my new one which admittedly is overkill in it 2L format (first draft) the breather is much happier ... will likely cut it down to 1.6L and it fits nicely on coil side of intake.
Don't combine the hoses and think very carefully re changes in sizes too
- especially of the crank case to tank pipe - don't
- NB: if you don't run some suction on the tank ie the smaller hose to after butterfly you will get pos pressure in tank and it'll push up filler neck. If you confuse the pipes you'll get neg pressure in tank (due to the small & big restrictors in the tank side connections) and you'll have a oil cap that needs to be pried off and likely hear some sqeaking from seals as they pull air into the crankcase (AMHIK).
see the link i posted above ... but here is the bigger pipe to breather and smaller pipe goes from top of tank to normal spot after fly with that oil/air sep in between.
