Default Help fitting Rennline lower dash delete on no-airbag car

Hi, I really like the minimalistic look of the Rennline lower dash delete. Even thou my car is the non-airbag version and it had the smaller trim piece, I wanted to freshen up the area and fit the aftermarket dash delete.

As this piece is said that is designed for airbag cars I emailed Rennline about the fitment on early 964 cars and was assured that it fits fine. Well, I got it delivered today and for the life of me I can not fit it in the car. The problem is the extra large glovebox hinge that that early cars had. The trim piece does not go over the hinge piece that sticks out further than the Rennline trim panel allows.

I will call Rennline on Tuesday after the long weekend, but maybe someone here can help me understand how to make this piece fit.

Thanks!
Andrew

I tried installing today in 1989 964. Had issues with Glovebox alignment when installed. Huge Gap. The ash tray bracket I didn't want to drill out the bracket so this piece will not be going into my car.

Rennline came back with answer on the fitment. "...the combination of the G-body hinge and the 964 vents make both of our lower dash deletes not work for your specific car."

Thanks!

Sucks that you had to be a "product tester" for this. The industry needs to get a lot better at this kind of thing.

I also recently tried to install the Rennline lower dash on my '89 C4 with the same result. Additionally, for an '89 C4, if you follow the instructions for the Rennline hand brake handle, you'll cut your hand brake in the wrong place (i.e., the seam)...for my '89 C4, the actual cut point was above the seam. Luckily I'm having the hand brake recovered, so it shouldn't be a cosmetic issue.

Rennline has been very helpful in the matter and offered full refund + shipping and customs fees. I'm sure they will put a note in the product description on their site. They also proposed solution to remove the glovebox and install a glovebox delete, but as I want to keep the glovebox I will be returning the dash delete.

Thanks!

If you have an 89 with the pre-"big lower dash" (like 90-98 cars had), you also had the "smaller" lower dash/ash tray thing right? Why not just stick with that? I wish I had that on my 91 haha. I feel like the Rennline piece exists solely for us folks who have the 91-98 cars and don't want that big behemoth of a lower dash in the leg area.

I like the minimalistic look of the Rennline lower dash delete but it is not to be since it requires deletion of the glovebox. One other modification I wanted to try was to push the hinge back 50mm so that I can fit the trim over it but engineers from Rennline advised that it will still pinch the dash.

There is no solution to this for now unless I will Frankenstein the two lower dash deletes from 911 and 964 to allow for hinge space and proper surround of the corner vents.

911 Lower dash delete (allows for glovebox hinge)

964 Lower dash delete (fits the 964 vents)

Thanks!
