First Post: 964 in Cornwall UK
Hi,
Picked up my first air-cooled 911 last week - a 1990 Carrera 4 Cabriolet Manual - after a very positive Pre-Purchase Inspection.
It was a 'Special Wishes' programme car with Brilliant Red Metallic paint. The first owner also specified BBS rims with gold latticework (these have since been replaced though I'm tempted to try and track some down). The complete history file starts with the Bill of Sale from AFN Porsche in the UK: £65,235.72 back in 1990!
Some nice modifications including Bilstein HD shocks with H&R springs. Has been well looked after by SCS Porsche in Devon for the last 10 years (including a recent top-end re-build). 94k miles, full service history.
Love it already!

That is a gorgeous 964. Don't rush to change. Get a feel for the car and enjoy getting to know it. That color is fantastic.
Nicest whip in Cornwall! Cheers/

“Brilliant Red Metallic is best described as a translucent paint as the only way to achieve the colour is by spraying over white. The colour changes from a bright red to a burgundy red in different lighting conditions. The car was ordered in Grand Prix White from the factory and then completely refinished by Porsche Cars Great Britain prior to delivery. I understand that only 6 cars have been finished in this colour for the UK market since it was introduced.”
“The re-finishing process is quite extensive as it involves removing the engine, wheels, doors, bonnet, seals, interior trim, etc. In other words, stripping the car down to almost its basic bodyshell before painting commences. The original Grand Prix White finish has to be flatted down prior to applying 4 coats of Brilliant Red. Spray pressures and paint consistency are carefully monitored to ensure every panel is finished alike. Finally, a clear lacquer coat seals in the colour. The car is then completely rebuilt."

The paint story is more interesting, though. This is from PCGB:

That's a great looking color!
the wheels you posted look like E88 BBS (same I have on my 964). I'm not sure they would have been the original issued wheels back then. They are a more modern wheel, in the classic motorsport look
