Default Front differential 964

Just rebuild the front differential .
When adding oil before installation it did start leaking front the seal at the drive pinion .
Seen there is a cavity between the shaft seal and locknut i'm confused wether it is normal or not.

Looking forw for your feedback.

you can't top up the oil without the drive shaft in place. If that is what you are asking?
