Default Splitting the engine/trans

Is there a secret to this (before i damage the case with prying tools) ?Spent over an hour pulling, wiggling, pry bars etc & cant get it to separate more than about 1 inch. Tried to keep it all level to avoid binding...no go. Just 4 bolts (nuts removed) hold this together right ?
Any advice ?

Wow, I've never seen anyone dismantle that much of an engine and not yet seperate transmission. Remove the clutch fork shaft. See WSM, think there is free downloadable PDF.

No secret to it. If all nuts are off, clutch fork and pivot is out - it's ready to be separated. Pull harder, maybe its binding on flywheel bearing (needs to be replaced anyway). Maybe use wooden wedges to get some movement?

Thanks!

If fork shaft is out, should be able to reach in rectangle slot and lift fork up and down freely... I tried to sense where weight centerline of gearbox would be and placed jack there and keeping gearbox level, we separated really easy ... Can't imagine what could bind? You accounted for all fork shaft bits? A flashlight in fork shaft hole and bell housing hole?

Thanks for all the helpful input, had a feeling something was holding it back that needed to be disconnected.....just didn't see it. Hopefully I didn't bend anything. I'll go at it again tomorrow. Stay tuned....
