Default WANTED: 964 C2 Coupe Manual

Cross post from car sale forum....

Hi All - I'm hunting for a unicorn for a buddy of mine with cash ready to go. Here are the must haves:

--92+ 964 Coupe Manual C2
--50k or less miles
--100% STOCK
--NO BLACK EXTERIOR
--black preferred but tan ok. No linen interior
--NO STORIES
--must have maintenance history
--must be clean by clean I mean hospital clean. Like you'd be ok to eat a partially eaten sucker that dropped on the carpet
--no accidents
--no rust
--no leaks
--everything must work. Everything. Everything. No "everything but..."
--car must be sorted

He will pay fair market.

PM me if you have a car like this or a lead. With asking price. Cash ready for the right car. No wife to ask, will ship. Will have cash next day.

If car isn't the above, don't bother, buddy won't be interested.

You know I can't help but laugh. I am hoping his cash roll is as big as his laundry list. I haven't seen anything like this in a long time and the last one sold for 6 figures.

If you know of any please forward. Budget I think is sufficient.

Have seen ones at porsport and holt, know of another one locally too that we're looking at.

Thanks!

I purchased a car matching the description last August, but I'm not willing to sell. It wasn't cheap.

I know of a very nice 93 C2 but it is black over linen so I guess that is out. Owner is asking big money for it and I think he is not really serious about selling.

I know nothing about this car but it does have some paintwork.

That's a nice car, but it's a C4

And yes, no black, he has a severe aversion to black.

So he's looking for a concours queen. Make sure you post a WTB ad on the PCA Mart, he may have better luck there. And he best be prepared to pay above "fair market".

yes, fair market is fair market which is selling price. point is pay for condition.
Not a concourse queen, necessarily. But yes, a clean original, low miles car.

Why does it have to be 92+?

If you are looking for cars overseas (Italy) I can help.

Hmmm...well US cars and Europe cars do use slightly different model designations. Where I believe in Europe it is based on production date. In US it's a "model year" designation, so you can have cars produced in 91 be sold as 92 model years.

So to answer your question, he wants a car that has the head gaskets and the later 'other' running changes that happened through to 92 (us model years). I'd want the vin/production date to verify.

But, not sure he's willing to deal with shipping and the importation aspects since registering a global car in California can be a HUGE pain due to different emissions standards than the rest of the country.

Understand, thanks for the explanation.

I understand that California is tough on emissions so it could be a pain. It does look gorgeous though

It is funny. I love these cars in black but since my wife and I both drive them and she had an aversion to black. My IROC clone was black and she said I paid to much attention to it. LOL. So when we buy cars she always used to say no black, white, red or silver. Unfortunately it didn't leave much. Although that lead to me finding my cobalt turbo and Amazon 928GTS and C2. Since then we have owned a black Cayenne GTS and a silver boxster GTS go figure.

He does realize he has limited himself to maybe 600 to 700 or so cars produced in C2 configuration. I have no doubt many were black and that so many have perished it is probably a very small sample of cars in the US that meet his criteria without limiting it to mileage and condition. My guess would be that less than 50 cars in the US come close to his wish list. That number is probably optimistic.

He better have a strong magnet because it truly is the proverbial needle in a haystack
