Ppi - 964
First time poster, so go easy on me.
I've been wanting to get a 911 for a long time and I am finally closing in on a potential purchase. I was torn between the 964 and 993, but thanks to information on this board I feel confident in going with a 93 C2 Targa. It is in great shape with what seems like an acceptable amount of mileage (41k).
The PPI is Monday, so hopefully if all goes well I will be a 964 owner by weeks end.
The purpose of my post is to say Thanks to everyone for the excellent information I have found on this forum. I have also signed up for a 2 year membership to help support Rennlist.

Good luck, and know that we WILL NOT go easy on you after you buy your car if you don't provide PICTURES!
Hope your PPI goes well and the deal goes smoothly.

Ask specificly for them to investigate the area underneath the wind screen rubberlist for corrosion. For further info look at my thread regarding this matter.

Christian,
Thanks for the recommendation. Will do. Also we will cover the basics:
Leak down check
Brakes
Clutch
Valves
etc...
I am going to try and assemble a list from past suggestions. I will keep everyone posted on how it goes.
Do you think $29k is too much for a very nice 93 Targa with 41k?

my concern is reselling a targa in the future. not many people like a targa basing on the search results that i've conducted. Their prices along with tiptronics or cabs often stay on sale for quite a long time compared to the manual coupes. YMMV.

I have always liked Targas. Coupes are my second favorite.
Anyway, today is the day. Here is my list for future searchers:
1. Visual Inspection (anything glaring to the expert)
2. Road test
3. Compresison Test
4. Leakdown check
5. Clutch
6. Brakes/Rotors
7. Windscreen - check for rust at the seams
8. Power steering pump
9. Belts - especially the distributor belt. Check if the distributor is vented.
10. AC
11. Tires
12. Targa top - condition, seal
This list is a direct result of many searches and great posts. If all goes well and I buy, I will post pictures post haste.
