Default 964 cranks, but no start.....help guys

Hi Everyone,

Needing some help with a friends 90 964 C2. A week ago we were driving home at it stalled out, pulled over and started her right up and drove on. A approx within 1000 ft it died again it didnt want to start up, it would crank and start up for a sec and then die. Tried several times it cranks starts for a 1 sec and it dies. We ended up having her towed home.

After researching on the net i decided to try the DME relay toand swapped it out with a new one, still nothing, it does tge same thing. Next, I ordered a new Bosch fuel pump and replaced it hoping it would fix the issue and start right up. Still nothing, it cranks and starts for 1 sec and dies. I did notice that the CEL (check engine light is on).

Im about out of ideas, anybody had an issue like this?

Thanks
GP

Do you have spark, Fuel? Need to find this out first. Many electrical problems can be Traced to coils. If no spark and fuel, might want to consider the flywheel speed sensor.

Read the fault codes. There's a way to do it without code reader. Look here.. Good luck.

If you're going to DIY a 964, get a code reader.
