Hi all - can you swap the earlier metal version of the carpet trim strip that covers the carpet to the sill alongf the bottom of the door for the later plastic version?

The metal one is fixed with 5 screws, the plastic one hidden grommets...

I need to replace mine and the later versions are so much neater I would like to use them instead so hoping it can be done!

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to I would assume you'd have to drill new holes to match the trim piece. On my car MY 91 there are actually two pieces that hold the trim piece in. A piece that goes into the hole in the sill then another piece that goes in a slot int the trim piece. I have my car apart right now so if you want pictures of how they go together hit me back

This plug attaches to trim piece see top photo then is inserted into white plastic insert in car body

Forgot to add there is some small adj on trim piece not sure on hole size in car body as all mine the under is still in hole

Went back out and looked there is one of my plastic inserts missing on other side of door. I used drill bits to check size of hole a letter R size bit was close R bits are .339 inch. Happy to help Justin-in-athens.

No I live in the Black Hills of SD I will try not to hold Georgia against you I had a insane mean ex girlfriend from Atlanta crazy and mean she was 😂😂😂.
