Default Ice Blasted my 964 RS

Having only a few weeks ago taken delivery of my 964 RS, I decided to get the underside of the car ice-blasted to clear away 25 years of grime and road rash.

The result? Fantastic. Better than I expected. The underside is like new straight out of the factory. I kid you not!

I half expected that once all the crap was removed, I would undercover some hidden problems but it is perfect. I couldn't be happier. Makes it easier to inspect and work on.

And now, the condition underneath matches the rest of the car!

For those of you interested in ice-blasting, you can find a great explanation here: http://911motorsport.be/activiteiten/iceblasting/. These are the guys that did my car.

Did the RS come with the standard undercoating? Gray rubberized type material. Did it blast it all away if not how were they finished and what do you plan to coat the exposed metal with?

The flat floor panels were removed so they could clean under the car properly. These were separately ice blasted and will be put back on. I took the photos before the panels were refitted.

After the ice-blasting, it is important that they re-grease the necessary parts of the car with the original Porsche OEM grease so that it is exactly like it emerged from the factory.

So if you do consider getting an ice blast, make sure you get this last step done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Did your car have cosmoline undercoating before the process? Curious as I'd like to have all that cleaned off too.

Beautiful.

That was my understanding. So it was just painted? There are so many variations to these cars. I am also perplexed by the water drains on the one side? I have never seen these before. Unfortunately I haven't seen any RS's we didn't get them in the US although a few are trickling in.

I believe the cosmoline was only a US thing. I know you could order cars here without but you had to pay to airship them over instead of the slow boat method.

It does look like it belongs on a production line it is so clean. Just a gorgeous example in every respect. Thanks for sharing.
