The 89's had no airbags ? Obviously not a steering wheel bag but no passenger bag either... is that correct?

Thanks in advance, I have a 10 year old who likes riding in the front seat.

How difficult is it to bypass the pass side airbag on the later models?

Correct the 89's had no airbags.

The 1989 models would have a glovebox where the airbag would be in the equipped cars. Plus the lower dashboard is different, as the non-airbag lower looks the same as it did throughout the 1980s.

While we're on the subject, what does it take to put an '89 non-airbag wheel on a later car? I know that airbag cars have the clock spring behind the wheel which would change things around a bit. Anyone know what the swap entails?

I'm beginning to consider how much benefit these 1st generation 25 year old airbags are, along with a number of others.
