Just thought I'd drop a quick note. Cars are back from the body shop and preparations/modifications for 2018 have begun. But because Jeff loves to drive a car sideways we'll be running the Rothsport Red Sled in the Doo Wop regional rally in Shelton Wa. on Sept. 23rd. One day event. Starts about noon and they run the same 2 stages 3 times.
Here's some video of the two stages.

Now image a 330hp Rothsport prepared Porsche being driven byJeff Gamroth going down that road. You won't want to miss it if your local.

Sounds like Jeff plans on ordering the gears and ring and pinions.
But the Red Sled most likely will remain 2WD. We're making some other improvements.
It sounds like some other folks are thinking of fielding a couple cars so we're going to be keep our cards face down. So to speak.

Just read through all of this again....so much fun!
Would love to see what you've got planned for the 4Wd version!
And more on the suspension? How are you managing the camber when lifting it up that high?
How can a regular schmo get involved?

The 4WD system was tabled till next year. Jeff doesn't want the weight. You'll have to wait and see what we've done. It's all about not getting stuck in the sand and silt.
Camber ? Jeff had custom spring plates created last night.
Involved ? I'm sure we could build you a car. LOL. This year is pretty much locked and loaded. The plan was to build up a rental car. But with the re-engineering I don't think it will happen.

It's almost time to leave for the 2018 event. Lots of really cool upgrades/modifications. Still 2 wheel drive. But I think you'll like what we did.
Jeff hasn't posted anything on Instagram yet. After he does, I'll Share.
Randy is coming along too ...............

After finishing third and fourth in the 2017 running of the NORRA 1000, the Rothsport Racing team brought their pair of off-road 964s to Ensenada again for the start of the 2018 running. After a few, um, let's call them 'learning opportunities' in last year's race, the team came back this year even stronger. Both the Desert Flyer and the Red Sled have been updated and modified further for racing action, including an even taller ride height, a cut down front bumper and front trunk floor for better approach angle, as well as more power. Last year, Jeff Zwart shared duties with Cameron Healy in the Desert Flyer, but for 2018, while Zwart was busy at Luft5, Eric Healy jumped in for navigator duties. The Red Sled was again driven by Rothsport head Jeff Gamroth, this time joined by Tim Ralston.
The Healy pair drove a perfect race in the Vintage Stock Production Cars category, keeping their Porsche out of trouble, not racking up penalties, and on the right path. They brought their #65 car home at the end of the multi-day 1000 mile race in just 27 hours and 5 minutes, only slightly slower than some unlimited category racers. The time was good enough for first in class, and 83rd overall. Mark Post's overall-winning Ford F150 is essentially an all-out trophy truck, and managed to finish the course nearly 10 hours faster. Making Cameron's feat all the more incredible.
Jeff Gamroth ran into some serious trouble with his 911, hitting a few obstacles along the way, and finishing second in class, more than 20 combined hours after Healy finished. Gamroth managed to finish about 50 minutes ahead of Lawrence Higbee, the third placed VSPC class car, and placed 134th overall.

The Rothsport Red Sled is about to debut in it's new gravel rally suspension set up.
We will be running the ARA test day in Shelton Wa. tomorrow 2/2/19. 9 to 3.
For those wanting to hear some beautiful music at 6500 rpm we'll be there.
Plan as it sounds right now.
Olympus Rally
Oregon Trail Rally
Idaho Rally
Then refit for the new NORRA 500 in October.

Is the Idaho rally the same that's put on by Idaho Rally International? Their web site has a tentative date of June 22-23.
What's the location?
I'd be interested in volunteering for this if I can get the time off from the office!

We"d love to have a nice Porsche contingent.
Maybe the Desert Flyer might come along too. So far Cameron's only committing to the NORRA 500.
