Is the wiring harness different? The air volume is greater when selecting the top button so both switches are wired in my car. Does your 91 exhibit the same behavior with the 2 button HVAC?

I am not sure about the double button A/C in 94. My turbo has a single button but it is early production 94 it might have been switched late production. If you have a late production MY 94 it is possible they switched out the this as well. Can you tell us if you have the black striker plates and rib-less door seals?

Per Adrian's book, some 993 units will work without wiring changes. Others need a little tweak. The top button is for "Max A/C" - fans on 4, recirc on, lowest temperature. That overrides whatever settings we're currently in use.

Taillight gaskets (per PET stopped end of MY1990)

Easiest way is to look at the screw that holds the cables in place at the latch if there are two cables you have them. To access them in case of no release the cable is accessible through the left rear tail light and you need to remove the front left wheel liner and search for the pull cable above the A/C condenser.
So it appears the alarm system and light switches changed to the latches in late 91 or 92. I will check the PET for the answer to that one when I have a chance. I forgot about the change from the one large tail light seal to the two smaller ones.

My car has the 2 button AC. I am the 3rd owner so I can't confirm if it is original. Build date is 9/93. It has ribbed door seals and black door striker with what appears to be white nylon insert.
I enjoy trying to solve these little puzzles.

9/93 and late vin probably one of the few last off the production line for US 964's. It is possible some of the cars towards the end received the two button A/C unit. Do you know if the door seals are original? The striker plates are correct for being late production. Does your hood crest have black or gold lettering? Some of the cars i have seen with the smooth door seals spent a lot of time in the exclusive department before being completed.

While I can't be 100% certain as I am the 3rd owner, I can say with confidence the door seals are likely original. All of the rubber inside and out on the car is pristine with the exception of a small tear where the driver's foot would drag across the rubber on ingress/egress . The car overall is in very good condition at 40K miles. Last 5 are 20355.

Since there were only 160 US spec 94 C2's and they grouped them with the vin numbers of the widebody C4's it is possible yours is very close to one of the very last C2's made.
