Default Bought. Finally!

After several years of looking and saving, after several years of lurking here and learning, after getting a very clean PPI, I bought my first Porsche today. A 1992 C4 Convertible. I just stopped for some dinner and saw a friend. I'm going for a drive now.

Congrats and enjoy. Do you have a convertible top boot? If not you should get one or you risk damaging the top when it's retracted and you're traveling at speed.

Congratulations! What are your plans, will you be keeping it as is or any planned mods?

Never put my boot on, never had a problem. Gone pretty fast, too. What could get damaged?

you will damage the material on the inside....there is a separate roof lining that will get ruined...

give it time...it will happen. the wind will catch it and tear it...

Welcome. My dad has a red Cab similar to yours... love the sound with the top down deep into third gear!

Easy front bumper fix: http://web.archive.org/web/200811140...smily_grin.htm

Thanks all!

I live up closer to Wrigley Field. Just south of Addison between Racine and Southport. It does sound glorious when driving with the top down. I blasted up and down LSD several times last night and tooled around the north side. My bladder finally got the better of me and I had to take it home.

My initial plans is to just drive it and enjoy it. There are few repairs that need to be done but none that are immediate safety issues according to the shop that did the PPI (Midwest Performance Cars). The brake lines are starting to show some dry rot and the sway bar bushing are seeping. Those will need to be addressed. As far as modifications from factory spec I haven't really thought that much in advance.

FYI, I do have the top cover.

Quick question, and I'm sure it is in a thread somewhere that I haven't searched for, I noticed last night every time I'd start the car the big red ! mark was lit. I could press the button by the shifter and it would go out but it would come back. Anyone know what that is off the top of your head?
