So far it's working well and I can always put the motors back together if I I want automatic again.

JJMCD, I love the manuel set up have there. Is it hard to install? Did you remove all the clutches too?

Well, my top raised on one side only before stalling out and seizing in the rain today, so it looks like I will be exploring this.

Any updates?

I had the same issue last week. First, i was able to shorten the outline of the cables from conv-motor to the gearboxes. No, i have more than 20mm wire left on both sides, that stick in motor and gearbox.

When everything is working well again (it is i guess, as i reassebled everything back together yesterday evening) in electrical way, i will start converting the top to a full manual top. I bought two latches from a 964 targa an will check this out.

Keep you informed...

made the handles by myself.

Two handles like this from HUG (just 1,-€ each)

62300000 KLEMMHEBEL UNVERSTELLBAR GR.2 4 STK 0,63 EIN 2,52 19

KUNSTSTOFF, INNENVIERKANT, S=6

this was combined with a 50mm 1/4 inch extention

together 2,-€ each side and work perfekt with the targa parts...

I sold my windshield header motors on eBay for around $400, largely offsetting the cost of the DC Auto kit. I think that is a better solution than trying to remove the motors from the motorized latch mechanism.

To make it work properly, you need all of the components - (1) the Targa L-handles, (2) the Targa manual latch mechanism to fit into the header panel on the convertible top, and (3) the slotted fittings that go into the windshield header panel, since the rollers are different in the Targa manual latch mechanism as compared to the cab latch mechanism.
motorized cab latch mechanism.
