Default WTB: One 964 Cylinder head

I have a crack in mine -- prefer undecked so I can match it to my 5 others.

Not interested in a complete set, just need 1.

PM or email mike@lonestarrpm.com with details.

thanks,

Mike

Curious. How you discover it was cracked? During tear down or were there symptoms?

Sorry I don't have one. Have you tried the used parts suppliers like DC Auto?

964 heads are very difficult to find now due to the widespread cracking issue. We are seeing far more cracked ones as well as failed exhaust port liners, making this a challenging issue.

Be prepared to buy a single head in the event that nobody will split up a set.

I had leakage numbers of

96/98/92/94/95/80..... and 150 compression in #6.

Found it when we pulled the heat exchangers and headers.

After making a couple calls, found a single head at Autobahn Dismantlers.
Ordered Thursday -- at my door Sunday afternoon (basic UPS shipping).
Shrink Wrapped and nicely packaged.

Thumbs up to Autobahn Dismantlers

Saw this in the pelican engine forum. An odd crack. I assume you cleaned up the head before the photo? Any signs of running lean inside that cylinder? Would be interesting to cut that bugger in half

My heads all had cracking/cracked ceramic exhaust port liners. Running very strong after about 4k miles of regularly beating the absolute tar out of it.

Hard to tell if it was running lean at some point -- it's a custom engine setup,
and there was a time when we had issues with the fuel injector O-rings getting sucked into the intake because of vacuum and the FI were not seating properly.

This has been fixed, but the damage may have been done a while back.

The leaky valve appeared to seat properly, and the crack goes under the liner, so its possible it opens up under heating and causes the exhaust leak.

No noticeable issue on any of the other cylinders

Mike
