Default Another tire question...

92 C2 max tire sizes street use (PS2's)
Will: 225/45/17 and 275/40/17 cause me any issues?
Car will be lowered from stock height and probably slightly higher than euro rs height.

Tire sizes is only half the picture. What are the wheel widths and offsets? Alignment specs will affect fitment too.

Also, a 225/275 split might be a bit more understeer prone than 225/255 or some other wider front to pair with the 275 rear.

ABS wants tires that are the same or at least close to the same OD, the limit is ~5%
225/45 is ~24.8"
275/40 is ~25.6 ~2.9% difference, so w/i tolerance, but still closer is better

The next issue is the effect on over or under steer.

stock is 225/45(~25"OD) & 255/40 x17(also ~25" OD), If you like the way the car handles stay w/ that split ie 235/45 & 265/40 or 245/40 & 275/40 , for better turn in ie more over steer go bigger in front 235/40 & 255/40, more under steer go bigger in back 225/45 & 265/40, 225/45 & 275/40 is even more under steer.

as you go up in width you generally want to go down in profile to keep OD
down to a reasonable level.

lastly 275/40 x17 @ ~25.7 is a pretty tall tire w/ unfavorable impact on gearing
255/40 ~@25" is a good place to be.

Bill
Thank you again for all the help. I already have the 275 on the back other wise I would switch them out to the 255 as suggested. As you can see the 235/50"s on the front are an issue. will switch those out to 225/45.
Thanks !!

When I ran 275/40 x17 @~25.7" in back I ran 235/45@~25.4" in front, 235/40 would have been an easier fit but it runs afoul of the ABS restriction.

other issue was the ps2's only come in a 235/50 so will leave the 275/40's in the rear and swap out the fronts for the 225/45's.
Thanks
