Default Service shops in Marin county, CA?

Looks like a friend in Marin is buying a 964.
He will need a good shop that knows 964s in Marin county...any suggestions?

I'd prefer one that knows 964s...which is to say, the kid that works there has actually worked on one, and that when there is a drip from somewhere on the motor, my friend doesn't hear, "you need a reseal"...but rather, "yeah there's a drip coming from your xyz, and when we look at your driver side gizamaherm in a few months, I'll swap out that seal for you...don't worry"

Thoughts?

PM Mooty He can give you the low down. Not sure of anything really up in Marin... have to make way down south a bit.

Steve DeJung up in Cotati,Ca is awesome. I would not hesitate taking any series 911 to him. Honest, very knowledgeable, and reasonably priced.

Cotati may be too far from your friends location in Marin County...just throwing it out there

I'd consult with Peter Wilms in San Rafael. Longtime factory trained tech who owns a 964 and is one of the very best air-cooled independents in the Bay Area:

415-453-3501
44 Hoag St.
S.R. CA 94901

Peter is a straight-shooter, nice guy and has seen the good, bad & ugly.

Hi Tech Automotive in San Rafael works on a lot of air cooled 911's. They are also active in the local PCA chapter.

I just moved to Marin after six years in the Napa Valley where the closest service was Wayland Motorsports in Santa Rosa which is excellent. I am looking for the best service for my 964 near San Rafael. Looking at this post and a couple others there are logical suggestions though the comments are all years out of date and I would appreciate current thoughts. Also as a subcategory I am looking to get my Cup 1 wheels refinished this winter and insights appreciated. Many thanks in advance! George

I would recommend Hi-Tec Automotive in San Rafael for service. They work on a lot of air cooled cars for PCA members.

I will add a +1 for Hi-Tec in San Rafael. They have helped me out a few times, even when I just needed help with a part number or something like that and I wasn't "paying" for service. Good group there.
