New Porsche Classic Radio
#31
One of the issues I'm having is static on an fm station that would not occur on my modern day car. Crystal clear in my 991 one but not in the 964. With regards to the amp. Don't all 964s have an amp under the seat? Am I better off without an external amp and use the built in amp in a head unit?
If that's gone then no radio will pick up good signal.
I think Porsche sells the cables needed to use the existing factory amp under the seat with their new classic radio.

You're much better off with your aftermarket amp. The Source may have a specific watt rating but is nowhere near as consistent or strong as the power you get from a dedicated amp. static on a Fm frequency would have to do with the source/antenna combo, and not your amp.

I wanted to bump this back up, for those that have been using this headunit for a while, how good is the GPS if you install the GPS receiver under the dash? I saw a video PCA put together showing the receiver on the dash but I really don't want to run wires up and I don't want to see it.
