Yeah they can be cleaned. Or you can buy them cheep now since there is a solid state alternative.

What's the issue w yours? Porsche recommends they get replaced if they have been dropped or if the car has been hit, FYI...

What are they used for on these cars? Airbags? Abs? Both?

They are on the c4 only.

They tell the computer what direction the loads are going to help the pdas know what to do.

It's not an Un-flawed system by any stretch. I'd like to go full manual pdas like the version that ruf developed after the c4 lightweight's version.

Wish that was still available

My solid state accelerometers work significantly better than all the analog ones of used, in my car and now everyone else's. I used to think it was that the ones I had in my car, two different sets, we're all bad or on their way out. Now having driven other cars and with the green dash light, I can say they are way more consistent and they kick the PDAS into action much less. I'm very happy.

Not cheep, but a great upgrade over stock.

I agree, solid state are much better, seem to come on less over bumps as well. I re-located mine slightly further forward as well, which makes the lateral slightly less intrusive.

The solid state units worked for me on my C4. Fit and forget.

They are also fitted to the 964 C2 Tiptronic.

Thanks. Does a longitudinal solid state sensor exist as well?

So in a C4 we need two sensors? Funny things is, I don't think I have ever noticed my PDAS kicking in.

Both the same - just orientated/mounted differently.
