Another oil line question (sorry)
I am in the middle of replacing the filter to thermostat oil line and renovating the tank. Had tried for several hours over a few weeks and the fittings will not come apart so had to cut the pipe out.
At the thermostat end the fitting then came out together with the adaptor. Can the adaptors be bought separately or will i need to separate them? Also i have seen in the various threads about this people talk about crush washers but there is no sign of anything like that. Just what seems to be thread sealant. Is that normal?
At the thermostat end the pipe actually came off the adaptor. I still had to cut it as the nut was absolutely seized to the pipe. Again no sign of any washers though.
I tried to find answers with a search but could't find these particular points covered so sorry for the questions.
One other observation is that the stripped and now shiny oil tank is a piece of art and kind of a shame it needs painting. Always lovely when working on the car to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into makin it.

I don't remember any adapters on the thermostat. I double checked the PET catalog and don't see one either. Are you sure you have adapters? Are your hoses factory originals or aftermarket?

Yes those are the fittings I mean. At the thermostat end they stayed in place but at the console end the large nut on the pipe is seized to it. No sign of washers either end.

I had another look and found the washer stuck on the filter console. So now i know where that goes. I am not sure if the adaptor nut can be bought separately because it isn't obvious in the parts diagram, but i can ask when i order the parts from my local porsche centre, who are extremely helpful.

Call Elephant. I bet Chuck can help you out based on this:

http://www.elephantracing.com/oilhan...911adapter.htm
They look to have the male components on the t-stat along with the female.

The 'unions' and aluminium washers are available separately to buy.
Union: 900 915 008 09
Washer: 900 123 139 30
These will fit both the console and the thermostat. The similar looking fittings on top of the rad are different.
